I am planning to reinstall windows shortly, so I need to back up a bunch of data to DVD. I've found tons of progs that can do it, but the trouble is, I have gigs and gigs to burn, so I'll need to spread it across several DVDs. I know I can just devide it up by hand, but I'm def going to miss things if I do it like that.

I need a prog that I can just gather up all the files, drop them into the prog, and have it devide them all up into nice 4.7 gig chunks for burning.

Anyone know of any programs like this?

Have any extra HDD? I do, it's the best way to do these things. All the programs I see cost money otherwise.

You can also rent some of those Internet data storage sites on either trial or temporary basis, if you don't have second HDD which you can easily move data into and retrieve from it; once you install OS.

Good Luck.

Here is what I would do.

Go to Wal*Mart and buy one of those portable mini- hard drives. They go from 20 GB to like 80 and more.

For like 80 Dollars, which is a bargain, considering that a 6GB flash drive might cost you $100.

When you are finished, format it, and return it to the store to get your money back.

:D

This is why I have windows and my stuff on different partitions. I reinstalled Windows just the other day with a minimum of fuss.

Actually, I have windows and my games on their own HDD, with everything else (Music, vids, work etc) on a second, larger HDD. I could just reinstall windows, but I need to back this stuff up anyway, and I just love the look of a completely clean windows (I know, I'm weird). Plus, I have tons of crap I don't need, to the point where its easier to back up what I want to keep and format the drive, than to weed out all the junk.

I always format when I install Windows. It makes everything so... clean.
