My laptop is now acting up, it makes loud beeps on startup and won't boot past the HP screen. I am posting this from the Windows ME desktop that we own.

Test memory with Memtest86 one stick at a time (If you have more than two). Memtest86 costs money now but look for the free one; ask your friends or here at HL2.net.

Good Luck.

Erm... call HP!
Usually beeping noises mean hardware failure.
I work for technical support for Sharp laptops another stuff. And I cant, for the life of me, figure out why some people just wont call when they have problems their not sure about.
lol

That is, unless they charge for tech support. Then thats pretty lame.

Most of these Giant system assembling companies like HP and Dell only offer up to a year service warranty (another reason why you should build your own system) and, usually a year runs out pretty fast and, systems start to have new attitudes a day after warranties expire.

If laptop warranty is good and hasn't expire yet; I do agree Whitezero, call and be the boss you have the right to know why it peeps.

Good Luck.

Even if it's out of warranty they might be able to still help you.

Hell, I support laptop over the phone that are like a decade old. For free
