bad framerate in hl2mp

Im having trouble getting good framerates in hl2mp. In the map overwatch i usually get somewhere between 15-30 fps.

I have changed the settings from all on high except for AA off at 1024 (these are my recommended settings) to all on low at 800, and i never have vsync turned on, but the framerate seems to be "locked", there is no change that i can tell, ie fps still between 15 and 30.

Is this really what to excpect from my machine? Thought the 9800 pro would do wonders combined with this much ram (edit misspelled the word mutch)...

My computer
p4 2.4
9800 pro
1024 mb ram
right now i have less than 1 gb of harddrive space left if that means anything
2 mbit internet connection

You need to free up some hdd space, fast! At least 3 Gb is best.

Also, if you can free up some HDD space I'd allocate some of it as virtual memory as it should help you a bit.

yea i know, just a week to payday and then i can get a dvd burner.. and have hours of fun burning 60 gb ..
didnt think i would need virtual memory though, but thanks for the suggestion ill defenitely try it.
