Badge of Blood is a science fiction based mod that will have players fighting it out everywhere from the surface of Mars to Orbitial Space Stations. The team at Badge of Blood states that it is opting for a more realistic mod by only implementing weapons and technologies that are in development right now. Here are two concept pieces from Rizo.[br]

OT:Yes another deep south southerner!!!!

Back on topic: I hope they don't try to go to far with that realistic crap...like stupid iron sites. :|

Hey guys! Thanks a bunch! We're still in our infancy, but we're hoping to have some character concepts out soon. Once we have solidified our aesthetic direction, we're going to start taking on more modelers and mappers to help us bring these scenes to life. :)

A note on Iron Sites: Yes, some weapons will use "iron sights" for aiming... meaning that there won't be any HUD crosshairs that make aiming from the hip easy for everyone. You WILL have to bring your weapon to an aiming position to be able to take reliable shots. Though by this time, we imagine most infantry weapon systems by this time will be descendents of current Aimpoint Dot sight systems, instead of true metal "iron sights". We also have plans to implement Land Warrior like camera sights that will be linked to a HUD feed (displayed on a monocular, or the interior of the helmet).

This, combined with the animations we are working on will allow players equipped with such weapons to lean the weapon around a corner or over an obstacle without exposing themselves to fire (albeit with decreased accuracy, as control over the weapon is decreased). The camera scopes will also include a laser range finder and sighting system that automatically adjusts for range.

Soldiers equipped thusly will be difficult to root out of an entrenched position... but we also have a few nasty counter-measures planned to make sure that this technology doesn't dominate the game play. ;)

And no, we're not a Doom 3 clone... any more than HL2 is a Duke Nukem clone, just because they both occur on Earth. Actually, if you want to relate what we're doing to another game, it would probably be better to think Rogue Spear or Operation: Flashpoint... but in space. :p

Anyway, thanks for showing your interest, and feel free to poke your head in the forums and say hi! I had no idea this sight was even tracking our progress... so this was a rather pleasant surprise. :D
