One of my fingernails was removed (hurt like hell, typing left handed is hard...), and now I'm trying to remove the dressing... but it's stuck to the finger. I tried soaking it (more than an hour), but with no luck.
Any ideas? It's 2:15 AM and I can't easily sleep with this thing stuck to my finger.

Pure alcohol or hydrogen proxide?Don't think they will work but worth a shot.

Ouch that sounds nasty :|

I'm not sure what would work, hopefully someone else will have some ideas.

Pain killers and alot of tissues.

But seriously, I have no idea how to work out of that one... Sounds real bad.

Find the salt and close your eyes.

This is gonna hurt...

(Seriously, just find some painkillers, some anti-septic and do whatever you have to do)

I guess I would try pushing through the pain... as long as I wasn't damaging it further.

Um......go to bed and then see a doctor in the morning?

Yeah, probably the best idea.

I'd get some sleep and venture out in the morning.

Ow ow ow ow ow!

This thread made me wince...

Yeah, prolly see the doctor. I think If i tried the pain killer thing I would overdose. :p

Isn't Hydrogen Peroxide corrosive? :hmph:

There really are some stupid suggestions in here, or did i miss all of your medical degrees somewhere? Just leave it on and go to the hospital or the doctor, they will know the best way to remove it.

oh the stupid advice hasn't started yet..

Place one finger into your ass and a thumb in your mouth. Now blow your thumb and the pressure in your brain will cause the bandage to fly off painlessly.

That works! :O

Next time use anticeptic gell and not School PVA when you're wrapping it.

I had nothing to do with the wrapping, the doctor did that.

...

Leave it on?

Or try some potassium permanganate :p (Disinfectant, it'll turn your blood purple. Oh, it already is:|)

Did he use school PVA? :p

Clag glue? mmm tasty...

Why would he use anything? Prhaps a droplet ontop of the final wrap... but I think it's stuck to his finger by blood

But then the soaking would have gotten it off. Hmmm...soak it in warm water again? Til your finger shrivels up and the bandage falls off...

well just stick it in water and then try slipping it off when submerged, also try applying a bit of soap, handwash, maybe even butter if your stupid :p to just get rid of as much friction as possible and ease it off

I soaked it for 12 hours and it's not budging. Going back to see the doctor tomorrow. Worst part is that I can't play any games :(

a true gamer would knaw his finger off and go back to playing :D

haw, yeah leave that shit for the doctor lol

Cant you leave it until it's healed?

I suspect leaving it longer will only cause more harm. Plus, it's annoying.

Edit: I tried to gnaw it off, but it doesn't taste very good...

Just play hl2 or cs:s until morning
then go to the doctor
yay!
best idea!

edit: oh wait not best idea
since i guess you cant use one hand

edit edit so that this post will contribute: is it stuck with blood? or is it just stuck by some unknown force...
tweezers!
cut it off
you may lose part of your finger when you do this though...
but anyway why lose it?
bandages are your friend!

just wait till a new one grows. Then take it off. That's what I did.(Yes, my nail dropped before.)

EDIT: Don't kill me IF it doesn't work, okay?

I had a nail falling off also...except it wasn't painful or bloody...don't know why.It was my pinky toe on the left foot...It was falling off and only had a little bit of skin holding it on so I just yanked it off. Didn't hurt tho....

Then I started touching the inside area where the nail was....it felt so cool. :D

Of course it didn't hurt for you, Tr0n. You're harcore.

*ahem*

I advise seeing the doctor, it's the safest way.

Funny thing is, I didn't put on bandages. It kind of just... heal.

I know, I'm a hardcore bitch.

Wait that was sarcasm. =/

I had this same problem a while ago whilst removing dressings from some surgical scars ... I couldnt find any alternative to slowly peeling the thing back, and taking the pain. Hurt like hell but it came off in the end

Don't try hydrogen peroxide. Put that on an open wound and you're dead.

Just pull it off, be a man. I once had quite a large whole in my elbow, this happened in school, the nurses there put cotton wool on the wood and put a bandage ontop it.
Quite painful pulling every little single piece of wool off as the blood had dryed and each time I pulled on it it ripped more skin off. There were about 3 pieces of cotton wool and I had to pull these off with one arm not moving.

I put HP in my eye once. Long story. Big mistake. ;(

I'm getting hydrogen peroxide mixed up with something else ... I think HP is safe to use on open wounds but something else with hydrogen in it is poisonous or acidic or something. Hydrogen sulphate?

Anyway like I said, just go slowly and peel it back.
