How well do you destroy yours?

With all the worry about fraud and identity theft, are you paranoid enough to shred then burn then bury your bank statements?

Or is ripping it up a few times enough?

One of the mini, hand cranked ones? Getting a proper office shredder seems overkill when bank statements would be the only thing I shred.

And Batman Returns showed me shredders aren't always to be trusted. Didn't work for Christopher Walken I'll have you know.

I was hoping this would be a "Post your bank statements" thread. I scanned one in and everything :(

What in the ****! Those are some crazy scissors! Like Edward Scissorhands scissors!

As for what I do with my bank statements... I don't receive bank statements anymore. And if anybody wants my identity, they can have it. I'll give them all the change in my drawer for doing so.

I've long since suppressed my bank statements. Online bank statements ftw.

My parents still get my bank statements. I don't think they shred or burn or tear them... because they probably don't throw them away! I bet they hoard them.

My mom is paranoid and tears off my name on everything... like if I want to throw away old homework assignments, she'll tear off my name. It's nuts, and all it really does is encourage me to hoard to avoid having to sit down and tear my name off hundreds of papers. I don't really consider my name by itself to be personal information.

I keep them in a folder because they are useful to know how much money I have been spending or receiving.

For security, the folder is hidden inside a velociraptor.

i just throw them away. If someone really wants to dig em up from the garbage be my guest.

I just throw them out. I'm really not all that worried about someone stealing my identity and getting that delicious, lucrative $140 in the bank.

I bet my parents read mine since the statements are sent to their house. Whatever, I'm not doing anything I'm ashamed of.
