For some reason even though I don't cheat regularly, or at all in that matter currently, I stopped when I realized how many trojans etc are packaged with hacks (it still worked by the way after i uninstalled all my hacks ect..), anyways after not playing for about 3-4 months I reformated and tried to start playing again, but guess what, when I try and join a vac secured server it says, "your account has been banned from vac secured servers", this can't be happening... 99% of the servers don't work leaving 3-4 at my disposal, some of which are empty. There's got to be some sort of mistake or something. How do I get this cleared up in a timely manner? I'm thinking it might be because css is still updating supposibly, its 92% done, but it's letting me play. Really weird, could this be the cause? Anyone had this happen to them before? Thanks in advance.

Because VALVe lawfully has the right to terminate your access to VAC secure servers, and no you can't sue them. Don't even start that, VAC caught you with cheats thus banned your account from playing on secure servers. I suggest you get a new Steam account and buy the game again if you want to play on secure servers.

im obviously not saying im going to sue them i just believe there is some sort of mistake because, the following reasons: firstly the only map i cheated on was iceworld which was not created by valve in css. in my opinion banning me from a map that they didn't even make is just plain rediculous. Secondly in games such as halo 2 bans are only temporary. Are bans only temporary on css? If anyone will give me the phone number that i would need to call to talk to some people in charge of steam bans then i would be glad to call them and give you the result. The way you guys are acting is like you never cheat im sure some of the people who answered me have cheated at least once. Please don't give me the "i'm perfect, and you made a mistake and have to pay for it" junk it doesn't really help, im looking for solutions not negetive comments towards me. And how exactly would you know that they havent been banned or if they have multiple accounts. it's not like multiple accounts are unheard of, as far as i know. but the parts you brought up were really irrelevant to what i was saying. I didn't really want to say what actually happened because i'm sure everyone says this but basically i let my friend install hacks and use them while i watched, yes i watched, but i told him if i get banned its on him. I guess this is between me and him, all i really wanted was to know if there is any way to get rid of a ban on hl2:dm because my friend nor i most deffinately didn't cheat on that game, i don't even think you can. So what do i need to pay for a new steam account a whole new game? what exactly to play the games online? My life must be so empty, cuz i come on websites and post shit like, i dont cheat....all the time.....why do i get banned? why why why! heres a tip....if u wanna support valve......keep cheating and get ur account banned, and just keep buying new ones......i support valve in a different way, i will play their games in the way they designed them to be played....i will buy every game they make, and beat them continously cuz thats how i want to support them. but feel free to buy games over and over, more money in their pocket, means more money to put into HL games, which means more games for u to cheat in and get banned and rebuy that game, and give em more money....its a viscious cycle, but it will continue.

you know what's strange? i've never cheated even though i admittedly suck so bad it's a wonder i keep playing... Yet, i still have fun.. without cheating on CSS or HL2DM. I've cheated on several single player games when i get frusterated :O but would this really count as cheating? online friend of mine gave me an aimbot/wall hack on a game and we went to his server where the antihack wasn't running and we messed around (but deleted both afterwards then played on the pub server where i got pwned ). I mean i'm no cheater but an anti cheater but seriously...you gotta atleast try it ONCE to know what you're looking for, it's lame to be one of those people who blame everyone and havn't actually tested one out to know what you're looking for, you know what i mean?

As to getting "unbanned". There is no way to get unbanned on VAC, read the FAQ on it, there are no exceptions, bans are never revoked. The only way is to create a new account on steam and buy a replacement copy of the game. Make sure those cheats are gone though, they don't have to be running for steam to pick them up.

The point is that cheating violates then End User License Agreement (EULA)

its like saying that you only make copies of BAD Movies and sell them to your friends, its still freakin' breaking the laws. me? No I have never cheated... If I would I wouldn't be joining the servers taht say "NOTE: THIS SERVER IS VAC SECURED AND CHEATING WILL RESUSLT IN A PERMENANT BAN" Every server basically says this when you are loading the map... did you not see it? or did you think they are just using scare tactics?
