Barcode inside scanner hull

I'm not sure what the little scanners that help the striders find you are actually called, but if you destroy one, the inside front cover has two barcodes. Has anyone decrypted them yet (or taken a shot at it)? I seem to recall a topic about this but I couldn't dig it up in a search. My barcode software is on the other operating system and I'm going to take a stab at it in a few. Click here for a screenshot.
 
I don't see any barcodes that match the symbology - both codes are apparently only 4 layers deep (assuming they are to be read horizontally). If you manually encrypt the barcode into binary (reading from left to right, top to bottom for lack of a better idea), it's only 15 digits wide, which would put the number base at something I'm certainly not ready for.

My question exactly. This post was as much a troll to see if anyone had already given it a shot as to let others know what I found out in my attempts. Technically, we shouldn't be able to decode Combine barcodes (maybe it isn't even a barcode), but since it was found in such an obscure spot and it resembled some of our own symbologies, I thought maybe somebody at Valve encrypted something funny.

First of all, the second is just the first upside down.

Second of all, if you take the symbol as a series of zeros and ones, strip them off in a zig-zag pattern, group into alternative groups of 5 and 3 bits, apply an inverse discrete hyperbolic cosine transform, and translate from a nonsense language I just made up, it says "you have too much time on your hands."

...too much time? That was about five solid minutes on the keyboard max, and I learned a little bit about barcode encryption to boot. I didn't know (and logically still don't know) that it doesn't say anything clever until I checked.
 
I didn't say you had too much time on your hands. I was saying that whoever discovers the fact of the matter has too much time on their hands. You didn't take the time to try a bunch of interpretations or email Valve or anything of the sort, you just were curious and brought it up on a forum that has some people with too much time on their collective hands, to see if you could get a free answer with little to no work on your part. No problem with that.
 
It's all good. HL2 doesn't have many bona fide easter eggs, and this would have made a good one.

I'm all over it - where is one at? I don't think I ever noticed. (I'm resting from a personal record 28-hour shift yesterday, so I've got some spare time :bonce: )

I lost the notion that there might actually have been something to that barcode several posts ago, but the barcode on the Combine ammo box is something I haven't seen. I'd like to take a look at it, but honestly don't remember these items in the game.

No, the top and the bottom one is identical. You can see the bottom one is only the first one's flipped over version
p.s. translate it into decimal or hexadecimal or even octadecimal (This three is the most common seen in the numbersystem)

Umm... no. Binary (base 2) and octal (base 8) are vastly more prevalent than octadecimal.(base 18). In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anything in octadecimal.

Yet, no one try to translate it into 16decimal, 8decimal and 10decimal. We might have a great discovery and our forum might became internationly famous by that.

Yes. All threads arnt for everybody. Im not a big fan of fan fiction but i dont go in there and post that they should stop. I am on the other hand not very good with math and my english grammar is pretty weak.

hell i even looked in MS Word to see if a font existed

Could you post the translated version to here?
p.s. Maybe it is simple a texture of no meaning
 
My guess is that its just for show. They could have gone a little longer to make it look fancy no? Besides, if it was a secret for the fans to find out, it has been so long, i bet Valve would have revealed it, tired of waiting for someone to find out.
