After two years on the run from the US authorities the suspected thief known as the Barefoot Bandit has finally been stopped in his tracks.

Colton Harris-Moore, 19, who was given his nickname after allegedly leaving shoeless prints at a series of crime scenes in the US, was arrested in the Bahamas. Police claim that he crash-landed in the archipelago a week ago after stealing an aeroplane in the US and making a 1,000-mile flight. They allege that since arriving in the Bahamas he has been implicated in at least seven burglaries on Abaco island.

Harris-Moore is suspected in the US of stealing cash in innumerable burglaries, and taking several cars and boats as well as at least five single-engine planes despite a lack of any formal flight training.

Well, we all knew this would happen before too long. Can't say I support him but he sure does have balls. At least he's not dead :p folk hero status is pretty much confirmed at this point, and he'll probably get a ton more attention in the news since his mother has hired an entertainment lawyer to defend him.

Harris-Moore's mother, Pam Kohler, said last week that many of the allegations made against her son were false but that she was hoping he would eventually reach a country without an extradition agreement with the US. "I'm glad he's able to enjoy beautiful islands, but they extradite. It doesn't help matters at all," she said.

Hopefully he writes a book while in prison. I'd read it.

More like dictate a book. I can't imagine he's got much writing skill given that it seems he hasn't been too concerned with school or learning (it says in the article he was first convicted at age 12 so we can presume he was a troublemaker and probably didn't worry too much about doing well in what school he did attend). He's obviously not stupid though. He's going to be a celebrity, whenever he gets out of jail he'll be pretty much set for life in terms of making money since people are going to be hounding him for book and movie deals and shit.

He also was never taught how to fly a plane, but that didn't stop him from stealing and flying five of them.

But yeah, even if he has to dictate it, I'd get it.

Maybe he played Flight Simulator as a kid :D

Looks like we might both be right.

It is believed that he learned how to fly small planes by reading aircraft manuals and handbooks and by playing flight simulator computer games.

He definitely knows how to write though.

Yeah, I figured he could read at least since it doesn't seem likely someone could learn to fly a plane without even glancing at the manual.

Nice of him to give $100 to an animal shelter although I suspect it had a lot more to do with cultivating his image than actual charity (also since he stole the money it's kind of underwhelming to begin with). I'm looking forward to the media coverage on his trial though, I bet he'll be hilarious and spunky in the courtroom.

First I've heard of this guy, sounds like he's probably a genius.

He's similar to the unibomber, minus the bombs. :|

Qualify this absolutely retarded statement of yours, please. He bears absolutely no similarity to the Unabomber whatsoever other than the fact that he is a criminal - which means that anyone who has ever drove over the speed limit, smoked a joint, or stolen a pack of gum is "similar to the unabomber" by your definition.

I just mean because he lived in the wild, kinda.

It was a shitty statement, i'll admit.

You're like the unibomber with all your shitty statements.

He had shitty statements too? I thought his manifesto was a good read.

If I was on the run, I'd have more fun that crashing into people's homes. I'd go into clubs and steal wallets and purses, its almost too easy. but yeah this is like GTA: Bahamas

Holy shit accountability on a web forum. Granted, in response to an administrator, but consider me floored. Who's been dividing by zero?

Have you not heard of him before? Hes wanted for over like 50 thefts. And how is stealing wallets and purses more fun than stealing airplanes and speedboats?

Police said he had a handgun during the boat-chase. Sounds like it could be BS though, since it was never mentioned before that he was seen with a gun, nor had he ever committed a violent crime or armed robbery (that I am aware of). Plus, he conveniently threw it into the ocean during the chase, so now it can't be found and everyone will have to take the cop's word on it.

Greenslade said shots were fired during the water chase but he did not say who fired them. He also said Harris-Moore was carrying a handgun that he tried to throw away.

Another senior police official, however, said police fired to disable the motor on the suspect's stolen boat, and that Harris-Moore threw his gun in the water. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case, also said that police recovered a laptop and a GPS locator from the suspect.

EDIT: Oh, he supposedly put the gun to his head before tossing it.

"At one point, the boy threw his computer in the water and put a gun to his head. He was going to kill himself. Police talked him out of it," Ward said.

Having a firearm goes completely against his modus operandi. It's why I find it a little bit difficult to believe.

TBH I really hate the one person interest stories. Its just a bunch of fluff and the real problems are never reported. That and watching the real news is even more depressing so to answer your question, yes this is the 1st time I ever heard of this guy

Haha, yeah. I'm sure he had a gun. I'm sure you talked him out of killing himself too. Yep. Big damn heroes.

Lying sacks of shit.

Their noses are completely different. Other than that, yeah I guess they kinda look similar.

Also, **** you for making me study the shape of Sulk's nose. Now I feel weird.

Didn't he steal semi/full-automatic weapons from the Sheriff's Department in the first thread we made about him?

It'll be Catch Me If You Can meets Jason Bourne, question of director is still in air, however.

Just means he gets to bust outta da slammer.

He looks like Sulk a little, except Sulk's Sexy Face Quotient is about 200x higher.

so this is kinda like a real life leonardo decaprio in catch me if you can?

It would be if that weren't already based on a true story.

so this is kinda like a real life leonardo decaprio in catch me if you can?

Except Decaprio was deadheading on commercial aircraft whereas Colton just stole planes and crashed them like a legend.
