yeah xptc is great, i never found the gameguides to much help to be honest...performance-wise i mean, i never seemed to get the drastic fps increases some peeps report from using them.

Haha. Only if you don't do it regularly. I do it every day, so it only takes a minute or two.

try the diskeeper program he recommends, its trial only but using it once should be enough, then go back to the default windows one.

This game looks completely different with lighting set to medium (I had it to low).

Just finished going through the guide, and theres a noticable difference. Yeah i used the "Diskeeper" he recommended and it worked well. The disk was in such a state it needed three defrags, but its much happier now.
