Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics
Electronic Arts informed us (gamershell.com) that the Battlefield 2 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, therefore it is recommended that you reinstall the game without the v1.01 patch.

memory leaks do what exactly?
i think it just means as you play bf2 the memory allocated will get lower and lower and the game will probably crash, once you reboout your system its fine again i think. it wont damage your comp i think.

dunno if i wanna reinstall again tbh, i have noticed this prob yet.

It's a server issue. Clientside, you don't (or shouldn't) get it, but servers get it.

I'm not reinstalling, see no need to. I'll just wait for ea's fix on this.

And now for the mandatory...

This is FRICKING OLD!

no, i noticed it with 1.01. it may be the placebo effect, but i reinstalled. it pissed me off royally.

Memory leaks are the results of bugs, which cause a program to allocate resources that are never released. For example a program might request 1MB of RAM from Windows to store an image, but the programmer forgot to return the memory to Windows when the process was complete. All memory will be returned to Windows when a process is terminated, so in most cases you can recover from memory leaks by stopping the programs causing them.

Well, after i exit BF2 it sits in my processes for ages, and the menu music keeps playing, and then even when that's over, windows does seem slightly slower- think this has anything to do with that?
btw, the patch didnt worsen this problem, or change it at all.

yeah, I have the same problem, windows gets slower when I EXIT THE game. After like 30 seconds I get the full performance back again.
