Just got it yesterday.

Anyone else still playing it?... We could get a game going later on, say around 4:00PM EST?

Never got into that, so BF2 is still the game for me. If you still got that, I'll hit you a game with that.

Meh, I still have it... just not installed.
Can't be bothered with the insane load times, for some reason BF2142 loads a hell of alot quicker.

Ditto. I wonder why they didn't they speed up client data verification in BF2, after they found out how to do it for 2142.

It was actually $30, and I am having fun playing it. :|

I was skeptical with it at first too... but it's alot more than mod from what I've played so far.
 
Ugh, I was almost tempted to buy 2141 last night at wal-mart. I don't need this game :( But one day, I'm going to fail and buy it, so when I do, get ready for me Unfocused :)
 
I reinstalled it recently, but I just can't get into it. The movement doesn't feel right and I can't hit shit with any guns except the sniper rifles.
Titan mode is ok I guess, I enjoy defending the Titan once it has been breached and thats about it.

BF2 for me is just more fun. I prefer the vehicles and the weapons, also the maps are awesome tbh.
Plus Project Reality mod is great fun!
 
I got put off from buying this because it runs on the BF2 engine.

What confuses me is how it uses the same engine, but has "better performence". I put that in quotes because I've never played it on my PC, but I must say, BF2 runs just really good on my computer.

Only problem I'm having is I have my F key bound to my parachute. After reinstall, somehow F is set to parachute AND switch weapon. If I hit the ground and hit F at the same time, BF2 crashes. I think that's how it works, but I've only had it happen 3 times. ....seems a large coincidence.

I'd probaby regret buying it for some reason. Much like I regret getting X3. I got my fill ON BF2, and I'm sure I'd get that fill with 2142 quick. Plus I'm boycotting it, so that would make me a hypocrite!
 
Thirty bucks is still kinda expensive for a pc game. I played the beta versions and i didnt like.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it, I just thought me and a few other HL2netters could get together and play.
But since everyone's on the "Boycott EA" bandwagon, that's an impossibility... thus this thread is meaningless.
 
It's not a boycott bandwagon. It's a "I'm not going to pay $30 for a few skins" bandwagon.
 
They've changed lots of mechanics in the game, not just added extra skins.
 
I bet it still crashes though. :|
 
BF2142 is a great game, although haven't played it in a while. I used team up with a mate of mine, and got into some hilarious situations, like on top of massive crane sniping people, up there for around 30 minutes it must have been and we racking up the kills. Call for a supply drop only for it to land on me. Then there was one of the snow levels where i was sneaking up on a mech, planted a bunch of demo charges on its legs, and blew myself up and i literally flew the length of the map, a pure now you see him, now you dont situation. My mate saw the entire thing as i vanished across the map, he claims it was one of the funniest things he has ever seen.

Nah, I don't care about EA, they don't make the games. They just force insane deadlines. I'm pissed at DICE for selling out. They had such promise with BF2, that they did great to begin with, then went downhill...and yeah, I really can't bring myself to pay $30 for a mod. It will hit the $20 shelf soon enough at my Target, then I'll get my roomates discount, and probably buy it then. I just think I could spend my $30 on something better, like Chlamydia.
 
Bleh... it really doesn't feel like a mod at all. Really.

But I can't convince you to buy it, so I'll just let this thread/forum die.
 
BF2142 is no more a mod of BF2 then BF2 is a mod of BFV, or BFV is a mod of BF1942.

Except having the same engine has very little to do with this, the whole "reasoning" behind calling it a mod is that somehow some people think it doesn't have enough differences/additions to be justified as a new game, not that it uses the same engine. It has just as much differences/additions as the other Battlefield sequels.
