Supposely these are ingame screenshots from EA's latest Battlefield game:

I am having a hard time believing that these screenshots are actual ingame screens. My guess is "Target Renders". So far we don't even have any details on the game or these screens but I will say one thing, if these are really ingame and on the Xbox 360 this game is already mine. Hell for the graphics alone. They look simply amazing and would also show that it's highly likely for Crytek to release Crysis for the Xbox 360 and have it look just as good as the PC version. I got the screenshots from here:

definatley just engine renders. The last screenshot is clearly just a jeep being rendered in front of a static image.

If Crysis is ingame (and it is) then there's no reason these can't be. And the last screenshot does have a 3D background, it's not rendered on a picture.

The Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock movie? o.o

EA just licensed the Unreal 3 engine (Criterion is useless now?), which is probably why it looks so good. Still, they could be using the next gen renderware engine as it is mighty impressive. I do believe FNR3 on 360 used it.

It is DICE and they are great developers (graphics and gameplay), so I could see it being a reality.

The look of the lighting and graphics in general on that one screen with the black guy pointing defintely look like typical UE3 renders to me.

As far as the rest of the graphics they don't appear to make as much liberal use of high res textures and normal mapping in the environments like other UE3 games but I think this may be because the game features fully destructable buildings.

Either way, I just hope that with their new engine they will have finally fixed the issue with the feel of combat and movement in the battlefield games. I always thought everything felt a bit off running around in the maps.

Right. They havent sorted the bugs in BF2. They're about to release what will be no doubt another uber bugged game with BF2142. My money says that when this comes out its going to suck the big one.

I heard they had BF3 (and two expansions) already in production.

BF3 I can definetely believe... Expansions? Probably not past brain-storming stages and most defintely not in production. They won't enter production until BF3 is almost damn near finished because you need a solid base before extending it.

Anyways those are amazing shots (renders or not)... Can't wait for official info :)

The game was a feature in Game Informer. GI says they're in-game, there's destructible environments, and they're focusing on SP as well MP this time around instead of MP. Story's supposed to kind of be like the movie Three Kings.

I certainly wouldn't mind another "full version" BF... Espeically one for the good ol Xbox360 ;)

It's just that I get sick of them doing so many "Booster packs" and the Expansion Packs... I love the original retail games (BF1942, BF2), but I never buy anything beyond the base product (I only would if the majority of the BF community moved over to one expansion pack or something.)

Bear in mind guys this is gonna be the next-gen BF:Modern Combat equivalent init? Not a BF2 style affair

Gotta be UE3 with those pics, it has a certain feel to it does UE3

You could assume that considering this recent announcement: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/21/ea-adopts-epics-unreal-engine-for-select-next-gen-titles/

However, when I look at it, I don't get a UE3 vibe (though again it's unfair to guess which engine a game is running on based off of screenshots... Programmers and artists change the look quite a bit sometimes... Example being Red Orchestra and Unreal Tournament 2004)

*Edit* Woot, I was right... It's a custom built engine :)

Built from the ground-up for next-generation consoles using Digital Illusions' bleeding-edge Frostbite™ game engine, Battlefield: Bad Company drops gamers behind enemy lines with a squad of renegade soldiers who risk it all on a personal quest for gold and revenge.

It's funny how "apparently" Dice Sweden is working on this AND BF2142...\=

skilled Swedenairs.

DICE Sweden actually has two dev teams within that one studio, so it works out perfectly fine. :)
