The first level and a great online experience all in one demo. Tried it today, fantastic. Post your thoughts here.

I thought it was quite laggy, hopefully fixed in an update.

Online is playing like pure shit right now, terrible lag, losing connections to servers, can't hear your teammates.

That doesn't mean I don't like it though, I think its freaking fun as hell, just need to give it a day or two to sort itself out. They're probably just getting slammed right now and need time to get it all worked out. I'm still loving the demolishable buildings, the n00b tube is ten times more fun now! :P

All of that will iron out. In the first two days of the beta it was horribly laggy and I thought my connection simply couldn't put up with all the destruction, but then there was an update from the devs. and everything was smooth after they fixed everything. Amazing really how my connection can handle it, as I'm right on the edge of the bog-standard broadband line.

Annnyway, unless they've changed the demo from the beta, you won't be able to hear all your team still. You can only hear squad members, which is quite cool, but it's also a bit annoying but I never actually came across any situations where I was annoyed at another squads decision. Everyone worked fluently when I played the beta for a good two weeks

Man what a disapointment. The HUD was just WAAYYYY too big in some situations. Like when they destroyed a crate, I can't even count how many times I died because just couldn't see anything else than the HUD.

And the lag makes it pretty unplayable. Shoot a fence with a shotgun and after 5 seconds the fence explodes. And talk about shooting helicopters with the bazooka.

But if I ignore everyone of these buggs/problems it's one hell of a fun game.

BTW are the servers hosted by DICE or by the players? Would explain a lot. Dudes hosting 20 player servers with 512 upstream :E

Pretty suprised at how much I liked this, even the singleplayer is alright. Took me a couple of tries to get into a server that wasn't laggy as ****, but eventually I found a game that was silky smooth - and to be honest I really enjoyed it. Enough that I'll probably pick this one up when it comes out, so long as the servers are sorted.

Gotta give a special mention to the sound effects too, probably the best I've ever heard in a shooter. Small arms fire, explosions and distant crackles of gunfire basically all sound completely real. Really adds a lot to the game.

I personally thought it was the worst battlefield game ever.

I'm trying to figure the squad situation out. It seems that if you want to have a squad of specific people you have to select "Custom Game" and invite your friends in there, then go into the game. You can't create one whilst playing, it just randomly assigns people?

While playing it last night I thought about this. Battlefield Badcompany feels, to me, like Team Fortress 2 has mated with Call of Duty 3.

I mean this because it has the funny and enjoyable side of TF2. But it also has the wide open, vehicle combat environment of Call of Duty 3. It is definatley better than Call of Duty 4 as COD4 is mostly close quaters and limited with map sizes etc. Oasis is a huge map and has an incredibly fun gamemode to play.

The problem is that the game is only half of what it should/could be. The same goes for every BF2 game and any other large battle type game. Bad Company is a great game in terms of vehicles and large open maps, but the toe-to-toe combat is really basic and pretty much just two people circle strafing each other until they die, whereas in COD4 the infantry combat is just that - an entire game based around infantry firefights, and therefore very polished. I don't want to have to empty a magazine into an enemy to kill him, it should take a reasonable amount like in COD4. I guess what with the vehicles though it's only plausible to have each soldier with a fair bit of damage resistance.

Why game developers can't combine the two is beyond me. I mean yeah, the weapons and fighting and stuff is cool in Bad Company, but when you compare the interior fighting or handling of weapons in general to something like COD4 it falls short if you ask me.

Some kind of hyrbid of COD4's dediction to infantry combat, combined with the large BF maps and vehicles, would be great. Throw in EVERYTHING being destructable and you've got the workings for a great game.

However, I've only spent time in the BF:BC beta, so I've no idea if the demo has improved upon the combat.

I thought the demo was very good. I tried it out yesterday thinking it wasn't going to be that great. But I fired up the single player demo first, and I enjoyed it. Then I tried out the multiplayer aspect, and to me, it was great fun.

Everything just seemed well rounded and fun to play. The sounds were on spot, they were great as well. The weapons aren't too bad, and there's 20 unlockables which seem to be plenty. I myself loved the Recon (Sniper) role, it was great fun. Though my only problem with the game was no prone position! It was either stand or kneel. Thats the only thing that kind of ruined it for me.

That's true, but they're just trying to eliminate the dolphin-diving-bunny-hop-fests that plauged BF2. It annoyed me at first but I just got used to it. :/

the demo plays very smooth, much better than it did on the beta. Aside from the optimization, not much has changed. I tried both versions for the PS3 and 360, everything is the same, but I like how the DS3's player movements are more smooth and fluid than with the 360 controller.

Not probably. Definately. The only other competition is BF2:MC, and we all know that this will have no problem out-doing that game.

I tried it. Very.....meh. Blowing things apart is fun, but the combat is plain bad.

Makes me want to play Insurgency though...

Its great! I havnt got off the game for 2 days now :(

Looking forwards to the full release!

Yeah, I'm pretty looking forward to this now, too bad it's another week. US gets it Monday, and as per, we get the typical Friday release. I... eh, what. Can't they just go mad and release it Wednesday if anything? Why is Friday always such a significant day for game releases?

Yeah i've been playing it for the past week, I got to the top rank and now it says I need 140000000 points to rank up. Probably cause it's a demo. But you can only rank up in the demo 3 times but theres like 15 things to unlock. I caught gheyitis from that.

Yeah, that kind of sucks. In the beta I had loads of unlocks before it stopped. I had all the assault rifles, every thing for Support, C4 for the Spec Op, the laser target system for Recon... but now I've only the mortar strike, the M16 and the G36 light machine gun, or whatever it's called. Three good picks which I'm glad I made, esp. considering I picked them with no knowledge of only being able to unlock three things thus far.

**** Assault without the M16 - useless otherwise for getting long range/precise shots, and I simply cannot go Support unless I'm using the scoped G36 LMG.

Just preordered the Gold Edition. Birthday gift so I figured why not go Gold. :P
