I'm not a writer, so I'll keep this short but informative.
A few days ago I've started a project to port Operation Flashpoint over to HL2 --not in the sense of porting art assets/content, but gameplay. Battlegrounds is a modern combat simulator so to speak; where the focus lies on realistic modern warfare that evolves around combined arms combat.
Weapon Systems
- accuracy measured in MOA (minute of angle)
- realistic penetration/damage and recoil values
- weapon mods (silencers/suppressors, taped mags, sights etc)
- jams and other failures
Infantry
- stamina (affects accuracy and movement)
- detailed damage model (injuries, bleeding etc)
Vehicles
- detailed damage model (front/sides/back/top & bottom, immobilization and destroyable sub-systems)
- realistic Armour and vehicle characteristics
Environments
- from small MOUT maps to large outdoor battlefields
- damageable buildings and deformable terrain
General
- dynamic chain of command (everybody is linked together)
- point & click communication and reporting system (artillery and CAS ordered and enemies reported with a single mouse click)
- slot based dynamic inventory (limited number of items and weapons can be carried, which will appear on the player model)
- dynamic inventory for vehicles (inventory size varies from vehicle to vehicle; each vehicle has room for items, weapons and objects)
This project is too ambitious for a one man show, So I'm asking for one or two programmers a modeler/animator a mapper and a creative writer who can write descriptions/backgrounds.
All positions:
- must be dependable
- good communication skills
- must be able to take (and give) constructive criticism
- must be at least 18 y.o.
Programmer:
- solid knowledge of C++
Modeler
- proficient with 3d modeling applications such as 3ds max, Maya, Lightwave or XSI
- able to model accurately from concept art/blueprints
Mapper
- proficient with HL2 map editing
Animator
- rock solid knowledge of human anatomy and motion
Writer
- fluent in English
If this has sparked your interest, don't hesitate to send me your sample work (or a link to) via MSNM or email to SOBR_Spetsnaz(at)hotmail.com
