Yes..that's my job. I work on Aircraft....Avionics Engineer to be exact. Very rewarding job. You won't find a more structured busniess anywhere else except the military. In other jobs mistakes are tolerated, in my job, mistakes can be lethal. And notice how I said mistakes and not mistake.

It is extremely hard for one person to make a mistake on the job and bring down an aircraft. There are so many backups, (Pilots, Ground stations, and even military) that it is very rare that one person will make a mistake and bring down a 747 or a 777.

The Airbus is the most advanced (and the most user friendly, THANKS UK! :D) aircraft flying today. Everything is computer controlled and the aircraft actually knows it's performance measures. (Basically it will not let the pilot do certain things, like bank to far or pitch to high. If the aircraft senses that, it automatically levels itself and tells the pilot he/she is doing something wrong.) It's an absolute wonder to work on. Believe me...trying to troubleshoot an autopilot system on that thing is like trying to invent cold fusion. It's tough, but I love a good challenge.

You also won't find an industry except this one where everyone knows each other...all over the world. I have friends in Africa, Japan, USA, UK, Germany, Sweden, even in China, and I know them all personally. It's a business where you get to know alot of people and everyone works together. I talk to my co-workers in Europe when I need help with the Airbus and it's always a pleasure to speak with them because they sound so smart....it's weird.

Anyway..just want to tell you that if you fly often..just to let you know, you got a world wide industry working together to make your journey safe and enjoyable...and no this is not advertising, I just thought I'd post this cause maybe you people would like to know what really happens in the industry.

And remember if the aircraft drops 2000 feet in 2 second...I programed in..just to give you a bit of a thrill!

you're only an hour or so drive away from me. don't think I wont hunt you down.

Wait a sec...you never even read my post did you!? You don't even know where I live either. :sniper: :sniper:

Oh well.

Sweet, I know there is another forumnite that works on planes here somewhere..he explained all sorts of things when the thread about the planes landing gear being malfunctioned..and what not. Yeah, that's all I can say, I'm not intelligent enough to work on big machines.

I might be going into research and development of avionics (amongst other things) as some kind of engineer. (I did Physics at University). The particular role would actually be dealing with airbus as a client.
