Are there any fans out there? Any have the new album?

I bought it today, and might i say im very glad i did. Its good to see the boys are back in form and ripin it old school. The album is very good I thought.

I went down to the store as i needed a new cd to listen to. This was amongst the latest releases and i thought id give it a shot. I heard it was coming a while ago but i didn't realize it was out yet. Im a fan from way back, but most new albums these days are garbage (see "The offspring, blink 182, limp bizkit) so i was a little weary apon spending $20 (aust) but i thought what the hell.

anyway are there any fans out there?

Okay this has nothing to do with the BB but where have I heard your sig from?!? I know I have heard it but I can't remember where?!? It's been annoying me now for 2 days... :cheese:

Ahhhhhh ... you torturous bugger.... that's gonna bug the crap outta me now :)

Not your avatar - your sig - ahhh nevermind - I'll just have to torture myself some more by trying to recall your sig from a movie I watched eons ago....

Wow took him long enough to catch on.

On Topic:

I thought it was an alright record.

I'm lazy - sorry.... plus I pride myself on movie watching to some degree... although that one escaped me....

allmost a page of crap and one ontopic reply... although i am partly to blame as i could of told him up front but I like to play... :D

Beastie Boys = Most annoying group ever. (IMO)

Beastie Boys are great. It's like groundhog day - -they're stuck in 1988 and can't get out. :D

It works well :D

I hate when groups change there sound... It usaly ends in disaster.

Bestie Boys are keepin it old school.

I'm in agreement that they are one of the most obnoxious groups ever. My wife loves them though.

Hehe, we all have our weak moments, Starfish. *me saves* :D

I like some of their stuff, meaning pretty much everything on Sounds of Science (like a best of). I never really got into them too much but they're great :)

I read an interview with them for an NZ mag called Rip It Up, was done just before the release of their first album (as the BB, not back in their punk days) but there was so much profanity they couldn't release it back then as there would've been an uproar. So just now at the release of their new album they put it in the mag, completely uncut. It's great :D They don't talk about themselves at all, it's basically just them sitting around, drinking, accusing their manager of being a homosexual and ripping on New Zealand  I'll see if I can find it...

The new Blink album was pretty cool I thought, although a definite change in style so I guess it's bad if you don't like that sort of thing. I found it alot less punky and alot more... Idunno, mature? It was like St Anger. Except with 90% less suck.

sweet i didnt know their album is out. still glad to see some mainstream hip hop that hasnt turned the the same subject matter as rap

Blink 182: i was thinking more of "take of your pants and jacket", it pretty much turned me off them, but i do like the song "miss you" i thought it wasnt bad.

saint anger blows :D

the new album (BB) has some good tracks on it.

as for the old BB, "fight for your right" is a favorate of mine from way back :)...

the film clip for "sabotage" was the best music clip ever.

rap aint so bad sometimes, R&B is good at clubs. I can see your point though...

Beastie Boys is one of the few rap groups I genuinly like. I mean they have lyrics about Macaroni and Cheese...how can you not like that? :D
Their unique style and tongue-in-cheek humor always stays fun.

I seem to be the only person in the world who likes all of Metallica's stuff pretty much the same...yes, including St. Anger...Blink 182's album was good, but it could have used some major trimming, seeing a few of the songs were just really bad...when I listen to it, I listen to the songsn in an order I made up, with a few trimmed off. It's only 30 minutes long, but it suits them. :) Now if only Nine Inch Nails will finish Bleedthrough...

Most hip-hop and rap is so generic and flat, Beastie Boys really have a style of their own that's just too infectious not to like. :)

All these random musical distinctions are really just making it a pain-in-the-ass to talk about music anymore.

i noticed something....to whoever has the album, whack it in the cd drive and play 'All Lifestyles'. listen very carefully. can anyone else hear the claxon sound from Half-Life in the background? it sounds exactly like it. it plays right the way through the track. weird.

yeah, the siren sound? i dont think hl invented it tho.

good find :)

You guys might not believe this but I'll tell you anyway. One of my friend's uncles was one of the original band members of the Beastie Boys. At first they weren't a rap group but they decided to go in the rap direction and my friend's uncle wasn't a fan so he wasn't too happy. Then he got in a fight with one of the 3 guys, I'm not sure which one so he completely backed out. My friend is from Brooklyn and I'm not sure if that's where the BB's are from, correct me if I'm wrong. I've seen pictures of the 2 BB's at his wedding too, it was some cool stuff to see them in light blue suits with ruffles lol.

thats an interesting story....:)

haha, I'll try to get him to scan a picture for me. Give me a day or two ;)

Yeah, they were underground punk before they went rap/hiphop. Actually went back to using instruments for a while... think there's some of that in the new album too. If you see the video for Gratitude they're playing live instruments, if I remember correctly -

AdRock - Guitar/Vox
MideD - Bass
MCA - Drumsaah

And there's some guy on organ. BWA-WAP! BWAAP...... BWAP... BWAP... BWA-WAP!!

What's more that vid was filmed on mount Rotorua right here in NZ :) Awesome mountain, the big green lake you see is an active crater.

Actually I agree, I'm not really good with defining genres so I try to steer clear of that. I don't think it particularly matters either... I just don't think BB should be called rap, knowing what that name entails :)
