"Belsen was a gas!"
Belsen was a nazi concentration camp where jews were gassed or shot to death ..it's most famous inmate was Anne Frank
a model for a cellphone ad was wearing a button that read "Belsen was a gas!" ..apparently the ad was enormous and the button could be clearly read from a distance ..the ad was hanging in a busy area of one of Toronto's busiest subway stations ..one that incidentily is close to a predominately jewish neighbourhood
the button is from a Sex pistols song "Belsen was a gas" ..apparently the model (dressed as a punk rocker) was wearing a pin which was popular with Sex pistols fans ..they themselves claim the song was more of a joke than anti-semitic which if you read the lyrics isnt too hard a conclusion to jump to ...seems to me that this is just a case of wardrobe not checking their props before they took the photo for the ad

heh talk about the worst possible way to offend a group by poking fun at their most horrific tragedy

The Solo Mobile ad, which Thursday hung high above the crowds inside Downsview Station, depicts a tearful woman wearing a series of buttons, one of which reads "Belsen was a gas," a reference to Bergen-Belsen, a Nazi concentration camp used during the Second World War.
