I imagine this already been posted, but....I'd like to ask why in the hell I get such good FPS in the benchmark...compared to these higher end cards:

http://www.techreport.com/etc/2004q3/source-engine/index.x?pg=4

And mine:

This just doesn't make any sense to me.....

omg, i dont believe it, i had the same setting as on the first one, and with .2 mor ghz and 9800pro, and i got the same fps, whats goin on? but now, i get average 70, i updated some stuff

edit:ur getting 60 on that crap? omg i thought it was 50, omg this is lame

Yeah it does, higher res means the textures are higher too.

That card runs the DX8 path so it isn't being put under the same stress nor does it show the DX9 goodies.

The 4200 can match/out-perform a 9600 in many games but the 9600 can also out-perform the 4200 in others while at the sametime showing DX9 effects.

Hmmm, that helps, but still...I don't even notice a difference between my screenshots, and any other screenshots out there, as long as they've been on high, and a high res...But I guess it doesn't always show up in screenshots then I guess..still though..

I'll take my three year old, cheap video card and suffer without those few effects...

I don't see a reason to upgrade at the moment...I'm doing just fine.

I'll keep my $300+ thanks.

haha, most people would take offence to calling their computer crap...I wouldn't consider it crap....This forum seems to be pretty well off, which makes mine look bad, but I have an extremely good computer compared to most people I know...

Just my video card is lacking...but it still runs things awesome...so how can I complain.

That's a good score Baal, and you know what? I tried the benchmark in a Cybercafe, I dunno what the specs were but I'm pretty sure it was a two or three year old pc, the gfx card was a gf4ti as well and it scored something like 44-45 fps. I was expecting a really crap score to be honest.
