My specs:
p4p800 with onboard sound ac'97, at the moment.
intel 2.8 ghz 800 fsb
club3d ati radeon 9700 pro

I'm thinking of buying an audigy ZS soundcard, or whatever it's called ;p

The thing is, do i get any benefits from that if i use two speakers, or a sennheiser headphone?
Will the sound quality improve ( that it's worth my money) when using those, or do i really need a surround sound speaker set?

thanks :]

The sound quality will definitely be improved, also, game performance will be better. No load on the CPU to use the onboard sound, all the sound related stuff will be handled by the soundcard.

Also, I'm not sure how good your onboard sound is, but an Audigy 2 ZS supports alot more channels of sound than most onboard sound I've had experience with

Yeah like Shuzer said you are going to get a big improvment. although you wont get the full use of the card with just 2 speakers, but it will still be a big improvment on your onboard sound. :)

Which mobo is it? The reason I ask is, I just bought a Asus K8V deluxe and it has onboard support for 6.1 24-bit sound, in my case, its not worth it to buy a extra sound card. I bought some 5.1 speakers and it sounds better than it ever has. I could be wrong, but I thought the onboard sound I had was also AC97.
