Great story.

Great characters.

Great acting.

The beginning starts out a little slow, but after it begins to pick up pace it's incredibly good.

It's a little long but you don't start noticing it till the end of the movie, where it slows down again BUT you want to see what ends up happening to him so it keeps it interesting.

The life of the boy is quite interesting, and the flat characters are great and add excitement to the young boys life. Plus it's kind of neat to watch him age.

GO SEE IT! :)

I haven't seen the ****ing movie I just said I heard it was shit.

It reminded me of Big Fish, but it wasn't as good.

I loved the lightening guy! and I love how they showed him getting stuck by lightening every time. It was so funny.

First half is a great movie, second half is a shitty chick flick

Damn it, now I want to watch Big Fish.

big fish was the saddest movie....the end made me want to kill myself

It is basically a slower, longer, less funny Forest Gump.

There are many plot parallels between BB and FG:

Takes place over a lifetime
Takes place in the south
Child raised by loving single mother
Grows up with a physical disability
Can't play with other kids
Is racially tolerant in a racist era
Matures in the war
Has a tough dirty talking boss that teaches him about life
Friends die in war
Gains huge wealth through luck
Meets a special girl at a young age
Girl is a ditz when she's younger
Girl comes and goes in his life
Girl eventually realizes that guy was always special
Keeps returning to the same childhood house
Mother dies
A fluttering motif reoccurs at special moments
Has a child who grows up not knowing its father
Sad but hopeful ending
...and the list goes on and on

Yeah, can I also add that it didn't have nearly as much of an emotional impact as Forrest Gump.

I thought it was a good movie, but I agree, there should have been more of an emotional appeal, one that makes you care about him, but it just wasnt there. I think the writing just fell short. Not that it was bad, but it just wasnt good enough to pull off what they were trying to do.

it was good but way too long. the worst part is, i really cant imagine anything they couldve cut out.

I can't believe so many of you.
That was probably the third time I've cried since I was 13.
It was beautiful and sad.

Yeah, Forrest Gump is/was about 10 times better.

Although, Fincher is a better director than Zemeckis. That that Zemeckis is bad or anything, but he's no David Fincher.

I loved it :D

I've already mentioned this actually in the rate a movie topic.

The New Yorker 'Current Cinema' said:
The total of thirteen nominations for 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' has to be some sort of scandal. 'Citizen Kane' received nine nominations, 'The Godfather: Part II' eleven, and this movie, so smooth and mellow that it seems to have been dipped in bourbon aging since the Civil War, is nowhere close to those two.
Hrmm.

My thoughts exactly. I made a joke about right after he intruduced himself actually. :)

Good movie though.

I thought it was awesome although I must say I found myself far more interested in the stories of the peripheral characters than Benjamin Button or Daisy. I thought the captain of the boat and the old black guy near the beginning were fantastically drawn considering the amount of screen time they had.

And the bit that made me choke back a tear? Not any of the deaths (although all tragic) but when he is sitting under the table with her near the start. It's such a hopeless image and was so beautifully directed.

9/10
