Excellent
The Dark Knight - An obviously completely epic film.
Iron Man - Marvel finally wises up to just how great the Batman franchise has been doing. Great movie.
Tropic Thunder - I expected to hate this because I can't stand Ben Stiller for even a second, but it was really really damn funny and awesome.
Harold and Kumar Escape from G-Bay - Loved the first one, and this was also excellent.
Taken - A lot better than I expected it to be. The ending was a bit weak, though.

Decently Meh
The Incredible Hulk - I can respect that Marvel realises the last Hulk movie sucked and wanted to do it over, but it wasn't really what it could have been. Edward Norton and Tim Roth were pretty great as always, but that's not enough.
Hellboy 2 - I can't decide if I like this one as much as the first one, but it was pretty awesome. I love Ron Perlman.
The Mist - Weak ending and iffy CG work, but it has its moments.
Righteous Kill - Pretty cool to see De Niro and Pacino on the same screen again, and this one kept me guessing, but it wasn't really what I thought it would be.
Get Smart - Anne Hathaway should have been naked for this entire movie.

Terrible
Hancock - What started out as a cool premise and even a good movie turned into a horrible horrible abortion.
Wanted - Absolute garbage. I could look past the complete raping of physics for a good movie, but that's not what happened here. It did make me laugh a few times.
The Happening - Why do people keep letting Shyamalan and Wahlberg make movies? The only good thing about this movie was Zooey Deschanel.
Saw V - Garbage. I wish they had quit when they were ahead.
Max Payne - I don't even know HOW they ****ed this up. Hello. It's Max ****ing Payne. But, there it is.

Excellent
The Dark Knight - An obviously completely epic film.
Wall-E -amazing and perfect for the whole family
Sweeney Todd - great musical, dark and mysterious
Iron Man - Marvel finally wises up to just how great the Batman franchise has been doing.
Charley Barlett- heartwarming and funny. reminds me of high school and why it was fun
Harold and Kumar Escape from G-Bay - Loved the first one, and this was also excellent.
Taken - A lot better than I expected it to be. It was like Ransom on Crack
Pineapple Express- Great even after you quit smoking

Decently Meh

I'm probably in the minority when I say that I thought the Dark Knight was vastly overrated, kind of mediocre for me.

The Love Guru does not even deserve horrible. It belongs in its own cesspool of eternal crappiness and hockey inaccuracies.

*runs away*

I'm probably in the minority when I say that I thought the Dark Knight was vastly overrated, kind of mediocre for me.

No I'm with you on that. I thought it was entertaining, and the performances were good, but it was too hurried and the twists were visible a mile off, plus with Begins I felt there was a degree of grounding to it, where as with Dark Knight it just spiralled out of control into overblown theatre. More than anything I didn't feel it delivered on the action front. One of the key things to Batman is what makes him intimidating isn't the toys, it's the fact that the man is supposed to be brutally dangerous. Burton with his gothic camp never delivered on this, and although Nolan hinted at with begins, he completely failed to deliver on it in Dark Knight as well and instead we're treated to a series of torso upwards rapid fire edits, that don't really demonstrate anything.

Patiently awaits the zealots :dozey:

It's not so much that you disagree that TDK is as good as people think. It's the people that never explain why they don't like it. There are quite a few people that explain why they like the movie, we need to see someone explain why they didn't like the movie, or you wouldn't be taken seriously. Which you did, so I doubt anyone would go against you or anything like that.

Best:

The Dark Knight - obviously
Iron Man - suprisingly good
The Bank Job - again, suprisingly good
Kung Fu Panda - very cool and very interesting since I'm interested in computer animation
Wall-E - ditto with Kung Fu Panda

Meh:

Pineapple Express - funny movie but nothing that really stands out
Quantum Solace - it didn't feel like a Bond movie

Bad:
.... I must have blanked them out of my mind

Best:
The Wrestler
Wall-E
The Dark Knight
Iron Man

Meh:
Kung-Fu Panda
Pineapple Express

Bad:
The Crappening

Agreed, I absolutely loved Batman Begins. The Dark Knight was one of my most anticipated movies of this past year, and I felt it didn't live up to the Begins. Oh, and the overuse of the joker quotes around the internet can be very annoying.

Good flicks I saw;

Cloverfield
Wall-e
The Dark Knight
Hellboy II
Iron Man
Indiana Jones 4 (yeah, I know, it's full of pretty awful things, but I recall pleasantly enjoying my trip to the cinema for that so whatever)

Not so great, but alright;

Quantum of Solace
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Hancock (good premise, actor from AD, all is well until the awful last hour or so.)
The Incredible Hulk (I fell asleep at the end, which sucks 'coz I missed Omar from the Wire who pops up for a second or two, I believe)

Well, that is like... your opinion, man. :arms:

Batman Begins was great! :hmph:

Dark Knight was pure shit except for the bits with Ledger in em, Begins was a lot better as a whole.

I see no "Synecdoche, New York" there.

I think I might just go kill someone.

No order within these categories, I looked through a list of 2008 films so they're roughly in chronological order.

Let me say I love Kat Dennings btw, she's in Charlie Bartlett and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

Burn After Reading
Choke
Humboldt County
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
RocknRolla

Decent
Charlie Bartlett

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Yes Man
Valkyrie

I forgot to include Quarantine and I really enjoyed that. First 'horror' film I've been to the cinema to see in a long time that I actually enjoyed.

I was going to make a list but I'm still feeling too much rage towards The Happening for taking my money. That was the most boreing film I have ever seen, it wasn't even saved by the many many death scenes which had I not been half asleap would have been kinda cool.
But the Dark Knight was the best, especially since I hadn't heard any reviews before I saw it :D
