it means that at some point tonight...the game will be unlocked. At least that's what I think.

Things are looking good on the status page. Big dip in bandwidth available.

"It means the date is still the 16th.."

for now but it means they SHOULD change the date and unlock it seeing as its "retail"

OMG

I think i might faint

..thats OMG, Oh my god!

*mutters to self* it is just a game, it is a just a game

That bandwidth dip is huge

Hey guys what does it mean if you get a bandwidth dip? How does that mean they are going to release the game?

An SBA (Steam Bandwidth Anomaly) like this usually means they're gonna release an update. The bigger the anomaly, the bigger the update. This one is fairly huge.

It means they're uploading something usually, which seems to be the case tonight. So far they've been uploading stuff for at least the past 2 hours and climbing.

Bandwidth dips indicate that something is being uploaded onto the Content Servers. It could be an update, unlocking files, preload, anything. It is flawless, every single time there is a dip, it is followed by an update, without fail.

*cries*

Its 01:16 here and I am afraid to leave my computer to sleep now, I just want to play half life 2 for five minutes. I will kill myself if I sleep now and find out it was released last night. That would be suicide time for me.

I'm sure the contract between Valve and Vivendi stiplulates broken street dates. Also, if the street date is in fact no longer valid, that may have been a Vivendi decision. If that is the case, then Valve has every right to release now.

It won't be released until the 16th. This bandwidth dip on the Steampowered status page probably indicates that Valve is getting ready to unlock the game.

I think there was indication there would be at least one more preload before the release... this could another preload.

If there another time to do a preload now would be the time to do it, a couple of days before the release.

dude this is grat first GTASA then the BR demo and now HL2 I havent been so happy since last week when we had Pizza for Dinner

It could be a CS:S update, and either way I think that would be awesome :)

Good thing I woke up just then and haven't missed anything

Half life is my all time favorite game easily, and my anticipation for this game is HUGE. However... i cant see the big deal in spazing over it comming tonight, or 2 days from now, it will get here... and no its not the 2nd comming Jesus when it does.

Damn, stop it people! You're making me wayyy too excited about all this! It's past 2am here and I should probably be sleeping already but now with all this fuzz going on, I can't! Bastards!! ;(

:sniper: :bounce: :imu: :bounce: :imu: :bounce: :imu: :bounce:

if they do release early, i hope gameplay.com send it early too.

...but unfortunately they WONT send it early, because the release date is still the 16th.

dammit.

Well, I just realized it's utterly pointless to keep restarting steam until the dip is over. I mean, everything they are supposed to upload isn't uploaded yet.. =)

I think this has gone as far as it needs to.
