im going with an obvious one and saying star wars 1-6 have probably the best, most instantly recognizable film scores out there. gladiator and the exorcist deserve an honorable mention. what do you think?

What's this? What's this? There's color everywhere What's this? There's white things in the air What's this? I can't believe my eyes I must be dreaming Wake up, Jack, this isn't fair What's this?!

Lord of the Rings and Kill Bill are some of my favourites.

Requiem for a Dream
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
American Beauty
Donnie Darko
Blade Runner

Oh come on people, A Knights Tale takes the cake. And we all know it.

Requiem for a Dream
Ocean's Eleven & Twelve
Star Wars
Donnie Darko
Indiana Jones, hell anything that John Williams has done is awesome.

Oh gawd, I hope so. :O

Indiana Jones, The Truman Show, The Matrix (not necessarily brilliant on its own but always fit perfectly), Cowboy Bebop (the movie AND the series), 28 Days Later, The Last Samurai...

Top Gun

"RIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight into the Daaaaaaaannnnngggeerrzoooooneee".

Crow
Garden State
Crash
Collateral
Lost in Translation
Donnie Darko
Road to Perdition
Shawshank Redemption
American Beauty
Gladiator
Unbreakable
Grosse Point Blank
Old Boy
Mulholland Dr.

I can go on forever..

I believe the Godfather deserves a mention.

interms of film scores i really liked the thin red line one, some great tracks on that particurly 'journey to the line', when it hits its crescendo i get shivers down my spine...

I totally agree. Lord of the rings also is a great and recognizable soundtrack.

Gladiator blew me away.

i like what air did for the virgin suicides.

Alien
Enemy At The Gates
Star Wars
True Romance
Gladiator
Top Gun

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Star Wars
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Platoon
Apocalypse Now

Memento. Without a single doubt. The soundtrack alone brings me to the brink of tears.

Stars Wars, Titanic, and Lord of the Rings are already assumed.

But also:
Vertigo
The Sea Hawk
A Clockwork Orange
Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2
Moulin Rouge

Easy Rider! From what I remember, it's all awesome chilled hippy music. Jimi Hendrix f*ck the what!

i went out and got a few soundtracks that hans zimmer made.

holy shit. the guy can capture the ESSENCE of a theme or context so well. he can really move a symphony to sound like virutally anything.

i find when i compose its difficult to move seamlessly from one part of a song to the next, but hans zimmer does it absolutely flawlessly, he is a ****ing awesome artist. hans zimmer and john williams need to make a baby.

I really like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children's OST was awesome too.

Anything the Thomas Newman has done( Finding Nemo, Shawshank Redemtion, Green Mile) everyone of the movies he's conducted has made me cry

I liked the Gladiator sound track given it's only one song.

:p

Any 70's Vietnam film's soundtrack :)

Including movies based in the 70's, i.e. "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

Starwars!
American Beauty!
