i'm looking for best film nominations here. But something interesting, nothing mainstream

i just watched Deathstalker 2. Nothing but an erotic medlée of violence, sex and violent sex. Nothing compared to the original mind you. Cult classic answers on the b of a p plz

I once filmed a Playdoh scene, had a Steam roller kill the Playdoh townspeople. I did all the camera work (webcam) and voices (headset) myself, I also came up with the script on the fly and directed it on the fly. No cuts, either. I nominate my movie as best interesting film :)

dude i used to have a recurring nightmare as a kid where a giant playdoh thumb rolled slowl over a village of houses and turn every citizen into a playdoh v. of themselves.

Best weird film?
The Search for the Holy Grail!

DAmn you, thats what I was thinking, oh well, I vote for Monty Python and the Holy Grail

bth 2 mainstream - hell, braindead's too mainstream these days

Requiem for a Dream, most powerful movie ever. Left me staring at my TV screen five minutes after the movie finished.

requiem's good. what about City of God? robbed at oscars in my opinion. some of the best acting ever

On IMDB at the bottom of the page about "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" it says:
If you like this title, we also recommend...

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The (2003)
What?!? Sure, they both have swords and knights... but I don't see many other similarities. They are completely different types of movies.

It's like saying "If you like this title, we also recommend Saving Private Ryan (or Band of Brothers, or another bloody, realistic war movie/series)" when someone is looking for Blackadder Goes Forth... just because they are both set during a war.

Requiem For A Dream... what a crappy, ****ed up movie...

And what the Hell... if something's 'mainstream', it can't be interesting? Yeah... okay... :hmph:

Hurray for synth, though... naming some of my favorite movies! :)

Mulholland Drive is the weirdest movie i've seen.

Pi is also pretty out there - and is a top movie.

The funiest films i've seen are The Big Lebowski and Withnail and I ........... both complete classics XD

I guess I'm mainstream

Favorite Movie: Lord the Rings: Return of the King
Runner-Up: Star Wars: A New Hope

Best Movie: Casablanca
Runner-up: Godfather Part II

My favourite movies:(In no order)
Every Star Wars Movie...Star Wars rulez...well at least the first three films...but the prequel are good too!
Predator 1 & 2
LOTR series
The Prince of Egypt
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Wing Sun
Saving Private Ryan

Pistachio Pudding is definitely one of the weirdest I've seen. But its awesome and hilarious

and office space and monty python and the holy grail own.

I had a Paul Verhoeven marathon tonight, watching Total Recal, Starship Troopers and Robocop. Robocop owns them all - it's such a top flick \o/

Over the weekend me and a few mates had a vampire movies session - watching John Carpenter's vampires (still good :)), The Lost Boys (all time classic), Interview With a Vampire (nice \o/), From Dusk Till Dawn (smelly pussy XD) and Underworld (pleasantly suprised). If you're into this kind of stuff and havn't seen any of the above - go to the video store!! (we decided not to watch Blade 1&2 on account of them being complete and utter shite)

Watch The Thing too :) ....... don't make em like that anymore.

//edit - and yes .... Office Space is sweet \o/

@Warbie: Paul Verhoeven kicks ass, try flesh & Blood, it's also quite good

Weirdest movie ever: The cook, the thief, his wife & her lover

good movies (dunno which to choose):

Kalifornia
Henry, portrait of a serial killer
trainspotting
A few good men
LOTR series
Breakfast Club (especially Judd Nelson)
Schindler's List
7even
Silence of the Lambs
Saving Private Ryan
Eddie Murphy: Delirious (not really a movie, but great laugh)
Memento
Platoon
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
The Firm
LA Confidential
The Usual Suspects!!!!!!!!!

edit: Oh yeah, Office Space  is great, too!

American History X
Star Wars movies (the old ones)
Platoon
LOTR movies
Matrix movies
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Se7en
Gladiator

etc. etc.

we get about one of these a week huh? well let me put it to rest, finally, once and for all, period, finally, period.

the best movies and my fav movies are infact one and the same, so you need search no further. in no order:

citizen kane
memento
dead again
to kill a mockingbird
remains of the day
hamlet (keneth branagh version)
ran
chinatown
raise the red lantern
the star maker
city of lost children
rushmore

and finally.. conan the barbarian!!

there are other very good movies, but those above are the only great ones that i've seen.

The original Apocalypse Now and the Redux edition. It's simply the best film in history.

Romeo is Bleeding is a good movie - well worth a watch if you like Gary Oldman :)

Pulp Fiction is the weirdest film ive seen. My favourite films are the Lord of the Rings series, Terminator 2 and basically anything with Arnie in it.

No one mention Fight Club? That was a bit of a mind **** for me :)

"The man without a past" (originally as "Mies vailla Menneisyyttä"), directing and writing by Aki Kaurismäki. It's a strory of a man whom has lost his memory and doesn't remember who he is or where he came from. Won prizes on 2003 at different film festivals. It's a very artistic and beautiful film.

edit: It doesn't give you the right image of Finland though :frown:

Lars Von Trier: The idiots

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams

Un Chien Andalou: Salvador Dali, Luis Bunuel

Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Delicatessen

anything by Peter Greenway

The Idiots can be very amusing XD

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams semnt me straight to sleep :) (definately scores high on the 'weirdo meter' though)

heh yes the first segment in Dreams was a snorefest

The Idiots was a classic...no hollywood studio would ever touch a movie like the Idiots

you should watch other Dogme films like the Celebration or Mifune

It almost had that effect on me, it definitely earns it's title. It isn't exactly boring, I really liked it, it's just so peaceful and slow you really have to be in the right state of mind to watch it.

/me rents it again :)
