I would like to improve the performance in game as much as possible. I was curious what type of things would help the most? Are there any tricks that make a big diffrence? I do not want to delete any brushes and I dont want to delete many trees and statues.... unless they really slow things down? Bascially I would like to know what are the best things to make the level run great in the game. Thanks.

I am making a HL2 multiplayer Deathmatch game. Thanks.

Yay, zombie's tut advertised on halflife2.net!
(Go to interlopers.net and shake his hand instead)

Use displacements for terrain and models for complex shapes, stairs, detailed towers. Don't use dynamic lights.

agreed, just doing hints on anyplace i thought it would help.. (40 hours of just making hint brushes ) it took compliing time down from 40 mins to 10 mins, it also incressed fps by around 40

But those who don't know how to use hint brushes can create just the opposite effect (longer compile and worse performance) with them.
