What are hl2.netter's Favorite horror films? They can be old, or new, it doesn't matter! post awwwwaaay! :D

The Thing, Alien, the Masque of the Red Death, The Blair Witch Project, 28 Days Later, The Descent, Dog Soldiers.#
EDIT: It seems I like sci-fi horror! Thing and Alien are honestly my favouritest ever.

The Descent ,me and my missus went to the cinema to see it , at one point in the film she stood up and screamed (will not spiolt it for ye). And she swears if I get her it on DVD she will cut my bits off so ther ye go.

I for one sh*t my house when we saw it , very good.

Oh alos session 9 is good if ye like things to play with your head !!

just a thought

The Exorcist(Stair case scene made the movie for me.)

Ju-On(The music... dear God the music...)

The Thing(Just the atmosphere of it all creeped me out.)

Those are really the only horror movies that have ever creeped me out.

Honorable mentions : Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th Part 1 & 2, Halloween, The Ring, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead, Stephen King's It(up until the lame spider crap), and The Shining.

Anyone who says The Descent should be slapped, claustrophobia isn't that scary... it just makes you feel uneasy... the movie as a whole was Grade A dogshit.

The Thing, It, Alien, Feast, Critters until the shitty 4th one where they are in space.

The Shining, The Ring and The Blair Witch Project are probably my top three. Good horror movies start with "the"?

THEM and It Came From Outer Space, or any movie with an exclamation mark at the end of the title. So bad it's good again.

The Shining can hardly be called a horror movie, it's more of a comedy.

Ju-On(The music... dear God the music...)

**** thaaaaaaat *huddles in a corner and has nightmares*

Although now I'm in a mood for some good scary shit. :D My favorites have been mentioned already (The Ring, The Shining, Aliens movies, Blair Witch, 28 Days Later, etc...

I want to say Silent Hill, but...but... *sigh* :(

The exorcist movies were pretty creepy, too. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but oh well.

Edit: Ah yes, the Shining was good. IT was a great book, but we tried to watch the movie a few years ago and we were like, "wtf is this shit lol."

the shining
scream 1&2
Halloween (the original)
prom night

oh F*CK! pinkle! WHY!? When that thing's head came around the corner...i need to change my pants!!

Lol, Blair Witch?
That was so annoying to watch, all you did was hear them constantly scream and bitch and moan.

The ending with the house actually managed to creep the shit out of me though.

I never understood whats so great about the ring.

As for The Ring, stop hating it just because it's an Americanized version of a Japanese movie.
It's very well made and manages to give the same effect as most Japanese horror movies, a sense of dread and/or impending doom through the whole film.

I can understand people hating The Grudge, because it was utter dogshit and ripped the concept of Ju-On to shreds and added crap CGI and a nonexistent plot.

It was written and directed by the exact same guy behind Ju-on, so i'm surprised to hear the general consensus is that its worse than the original. Especially when you take into consideration Sam Raimi produced it and most likely wouldn't have interfered with the directors vision at all.

But, i thought Ju-on was pretty shit anyway save for a moments here and there.

Anyway: The Thing and Alien are the only ones that ever had any impact on me. I can think of a few thrillers that are borderline horror that i love, but they don't really count.

Kind of like your taste in films.

:D

The movie succeeded in atmosphere, which a lot of movies fail to do on a continual basis. A horror movie needs atmosphere, it needs that, as you say, ever impending doom, which I think it did well.

The Grudge, omfg. Horrible. Just... horrible.

The Exorcist
The Omen
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Serpent and the Rainbow
The Thing

(Note: the remakes of any of these don't even deserve to be mentioned.)

THEM and It Came From Outer Space, or any movie with an exclamation mark at the end of the title. So bad it's good again.
Oh my God I loved THEM! The scene with the soldiers or whatever finding the little girl screaming "THEM! THEM!" scared me a bit when I was little.

It was a Japanese movie?
You could say most of the shit supernatural horror films that have been put out are shitty remakes of good Asian horror films.

Oh shit... THEM! The one with the gigantic ants. That was awesome.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Shining
Alien
The Ring (japanese version)
Braindead (v funny as well)
Day of the Dead
Psycho
The Exorcist
Suspiria
The Brood
Candyman!

some good films & directors amongst those

P.S Rawhead Rex!

The Omen ad TCM are the only movies that scared the balls out of me

Ack! Forgot Rosemary's Baby!! How??? (And please disregard the remake that is coming...more garbage for the mtv kiddies.)

Evil Dead 2, Dead Alive, The Thing, Jacob's Ladder, Saw, Dawn of the Dead (remake)...

Army of Darkness is fun, but so overrated in comparison to Evil Dead 2
