for me, it has got to be wynton marsalis purely because of his versatility. he can play any kind of music. and then clifford brown for his ability to play super fast and still play every note clearly. and then of course, coltrane, davis, ellington, and armstrong. what do you guys think?

The most Jazz I've listened to is Coltrane and Davis, so I'm gonna have go with them. I need to get more Jazz in my ears.

No offense, but how can you listen to jazz?

BTW, I'm not calling jazz stupid or anything, I'm just asking how can you listen to it.

By listening, you silly f*ck.

Anyway, I like most jazz I hear. It's not my favorite genre, but like Deus, I really need to get into it more.

insert cd, turn volume up, make sure you are not deaf. that should be the only requirements for listening.

Really hard to say who is the best jazz musician. There are amazing jazz musicians on every instrument and many on more than one. Miles Davis comes to mind, though, if I had to pick one, though I appreciate others like Don Lanphere, Cal Tjader, Guy Barker, Jean Toussaint, Oliver Nelson, Charlie Parker, etc etc etc. Jazz is really such an amazing genre....

dizzy gellespie, maybe oscar petterson, John Coltrane or Miles Davis ...although I really like ella ..(it could be argued her voice is an instrument)
