I'm currently in search for a long-lasting laptop that I will mostly use for school and worksheets. My budget is under $2000 (CAD) and I was thinking about the Dell Inspiron. Any other suggestions?
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1520 for US $1080 after tax and discounts and its arriving a week after i move into my dorm,. this was not THE best set up but its very good for its class. dell is very reliable because if smth goes wrong u can call tech support and they help u solve problems.
Here are my specs
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo 7300 (2.0 ghz)
OS - Windows Vista Premium (i plan to use xp)
Ram - 2 GB shared dual channel ddr2 667 mhz (free)
Display - 15" with 1440x900 resolution
HDD - 160 gb SATA HDD (Free)
GPU - 256 mb 8600M GT
the 2 gb ram and 160 gb hdd offer was over yesterday.
this is far superior than my current pc and it is the best deal right now. also, i went to deals2buy.com and used a $300 off coupon. im not sure if u can use that for canada. that made my dell a best value laptop right now.
Aha! You were me about a month ago with the same budget. I went ahead and bought Dell's Inspiron 1720. Absolutely loving it at the moment. Still getting used to Vista though.
Damn... sucks that I miss the offer. What really grinds my gears though is that it comes with Vista, which I absolutely don't want to have nor do I want to get used to it, and supposedly the drivers for XP are still inexistent.
I just got some Acer thing yesterday for 350GBP ($707)
Why would one need such an expensive machine for just doing work? Spreadsheets and documents arent exactly resource hungry, right? My 'cheapo' laptop doesnt lag or anything in normal usage and it's running Vista Home Premium.
