best monitor calibration software??

I'm in the market for a new monitor......
and i've got my eye on one that supposedly comes with questionable settings out of the box
so i need recommendations for a good, free app that i can use to adjust my new monitor pleez!

umm... the monitor itself has buttons to adjust the settings

Monitor usually will come with utility software for such task, also, Nvidia control panel has some options to scale monitor.

oh ya i forgot about the Nvidia control panel... i might give that a try

actually, i just noticed that the monitor you've got is the one i might be picking up
how were the colours out of the box? did you need to adjust it much? and do you know anything about the different "panel" issues? i'm not really too concerned about it... i just want to be able to get the most out of the monitor

You can buy two of the same monitors and it's pretty unlikely that you will get the adjustments to be perfectly (to the human eye) matched.

One is bound to be a little brighter or whatever, no matter what adjustments you make.

you should be fine.
