What's the best free audio editing software. It should be able to at least: apply fades, splice songs, and export as a mp3/wav file

thx

i find the programme goldwave to be pretty good. just search it on google, ive not got a link atm. pretty easy to use as well.

it only has a trial version, I wanted a free version cuz the accounts dept doesnt want to shell out any more cash after I had then buy me a new pc

AFAIK Goldwave is free, the "trial" has no limitations except for a meaningless counter. This might have been the old version only though, because i havent updated it in like a year.

:O. i've had the mirc trial since longer than i can remember, and its never touched me.

Nero Wave Editor comes free with Nero 5.0 (and above, I think) and is the best audio etiting tool ive ever used, simple too. does all the functions u mention easily.

I think it's Nero 6 and above.

And yea, it's quite good...not very advanced, but very quick and easy to use.

Soundforge is good if you can get a hold of that if you're looking for something a little more advanced.

I have Nero 5 and it comes with it as standard, that's why I said 5... although I've not had 4 so i'm not sure.
