I am having a hard time researching this. The most quiet one I found is 21 db. I have a socket 939 amd-fx53. I got it when it first game out and ever since the fan has been noisy beyond belief. When I go to LANs my computer is the loudest one there. Now that the 939s have been out for awhile, does anyone have any non-watercooling suggestions. I am looking for an extremely quiet fan, possibly the most quiet one possible. Thanks. A newegg link would be appreciated.

Zalmans is probably the best for a quiet HSF but you have to check if it's compatible with your board. Look up the latest model. Don't expect to be OCing well though.

Thermalright's XP-120 is almost right up there as well for a quiet setup. You pick your own 120mm Fan for the XP-120 and 92mm fan for the XP-90 (which I have). These are very versital as you pick your own fan and you can have a really quiet setup or put a different fan on there and go all out OCing (best heatsink available for OCing with Air Cooling).

Again, check motherboard compatibility and use Arctic Silver!

I wholly second duffers. This akasa HSG is brilliant and was given a superb review by custompc, and at a fairly reasonable price

Yeh thats where I first saw it, in CustomPC, great magazine! Gave it a great review and here are the temperature results compared to a reference AMD HSF:

Fan at 4000rpm
CPU Idle: 9 degrees cooler
CPU Loaded: 17 degrees cooler

Fan at 2000rpm
CPU Idle: 6 degrees cooler
CPU Loaded: 13 degrees cooler.

Pretty impressive results there! It recieved the top award in teh magazine as it was easy to fit, and cooling is brilliant at both fan speeds. Totally Recommend it, infact I think I will order one for myself!
