I think the best type of music is any kind of metal. Meshuggah, Lamb of God, etc. It is just above every other form of music. What do you think? \m/

Anything that places focus on drums, or beats, to be general.

Plus, things that SOUND cool.

Drum & Bass is a good genre that fits this.

But drum based techno isn't the only kind I listen to, I like my fair share of ambient and songs that have COOL sounds.

Most if not all this type of music is computer generated.

Agreed, i play drums, so I really appreciate when I hear some good double bass or just good bass beats (my double bass kicks kinda blow so Im saving up for Axis); and some insane fills. I have found that metal has most complicated beats and the guitar solos are pretty sick too.

Same. I do listen to Rock/Metal/Soft/80's also, though.

80's is good. 80's metal that is, like Slayer. None of that other weird shit.

In my opinion I would say grunge...but each to their own I guess (cept if you like rap, *warning this genre may result in loss of intelligence and wannabe black man syndrome*)

Classical.
Without it all music would be very, very basic.

Rock... and some 80s.

Whitesnake and Cinderella ftw.

While I may not like it all the time, I'll give credit to anyone who plays with talent and most importantly passion. A lot of artists forget now days to really put some emotion into a song.

As far as genres go, I listen to a hell of a lot of alternative rock.

shitcore of course..

In all honesty, I don't give a shit what music you like the most and I can't imagine why anyone would care what kind of music I like. These types of threads are pointless..

Whoa, I thought I was reading one of my own posts there (apart from the alternative rock bit). I used to make a big point of saying I'd listen to anything (at least once) as long as it is played with passion and integrity. Passion's the one major ingredient that defines good music for me.

In recent days I've closed off my horizons a bit in terms of tolerance of different musical styles, but that's mainly because I've pretty much found my one little niche of enjoyment - which is perched right on top of the knife edge between Death and Black metal, Canadian War metal being a great exponent of this.

Axis of Advance ftw.

Impossible to say for me. Depends on my mood. Sometimes metal is best with Gammacide and Tankard shaking the room, but sometimes I just need to relax with The Cardigans or Belle & Sebastian.

That said, Classical is the music that I have the most respect for. Mind-blowingly complex and intricate and beautiful.

I listen to music that can accompany my mood. Right now that is Slipknot.

I haven't been listening to much metal these days. But I never can replicate the feeling I get when I put on a really heavy track on - you can just vent out all your frustration - that sounds emo but who cares. Far Beyond Driven works the best for me.

60's mod-rock and psych-rock or 60's rock/folk (Like later era Bob Dylan)

And The Beatles, they are so good they get their own music genre

metal has maybe the most complexity i've ever heard on any kind of music that isn't classical, and it sounds really good, though my preferable style of music is rock, indie rock, indie pop, and the Beatles...

I'll ilsten to anything, literally. But nowadays I really like ska, and sort-of middle eastern/ belly dancing music. That stuff is pretty awesome, and it's mostly percussion, so...*nudge* and all that.

I severely dislike the pop nowadays. Including emo. but I'll still listen to it.

Anything exept rap. Country, Rock, Classical, even Jazz 8O. Just as long that it is not rap.
EDIT: I really like that song by... Shinedown called Save Me.

Alt. Rock.
Emo doesn't bother me... as long as it isn't Heavy Metal. (Listen to Heavy Metal sometimes.)
Mixes of all kind of different country instruments into a piece. (Battlefield 2 Loading Music, Firefly music.) is pretty good.

i like all music, (i don't consider gangsta rap music). I like hard rock, seether/nirvana/etc. i like folk-rock, flogging molly ftmfw!, classical, some country, pop is good in respect of jack johnson and wierd al, its all good yo.

I wore my Flogging Molly shirt today, of all things. :D

Flogging Molly FTW!!!

I freakin love that band. Ever seen them live? Its the most fun the human body can take without spontaneously combusting.

The thread title needs to be changed to: Your favorite kind of music.

Music is Art.
Art is subjective.

^He's right. There's no such thing. I like psychedelic rock just as much as I like indie rock- but I like them both in completely different ways. Variety ftmfw!
