Hey

I love reading forums sooo much i've decided to start buying a pc mag.
I don't know any names so when i get between 5-10 i'l make a poll.

What's your fav mag for game info/reviews on the pc?

Thanks!

1. Wrong forum.

2. Edge is unbeatable. :) Not PC gaming per se, but gaming in general. still, it's a lot better than most gaming magazines anyway.

Moved to General Gaming

I have a subscription to PC Zone at the moment, but I was a regular buyer of PC Gamer for a long time.

I love my PCgamer subscription, I live in Canada but I hear the UK version is basically the same.

PC Gamer, IMO, especially with the new focus on online communities.

(soz bout wrong forum i was just browsing that forum th most ! d'oh i hate ppl who do what i just did aswel lol)

PCZone!

Edge is decent but a bit posh i reckon, covers the whole industry.

Hypocrite!!! ;)

When I used to get gaming magazines for anything other than filling time at the train station, I used to get PC format. Something about it just seemd so right to me. Although it didn't get all the exclusives, etc, it made up for it with things other than games :D

PC Gamer for sure. PC Zone is such lad-mag shite now, plus PC Gamer has always been, and still is, a very entertaining and funny read.

Perhaps it's those scantily-clad women they stick on the front cover every month? :P

I had a subscription to PCGamer for about 2 years and it's pretty good. PCZone is written in more of a lads' mag style, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They can both be extremely funny and both have some very good writers, but I'd say that generally PCG pips it. I don't really buy gaming mags religiously; usually I just buy NME and get wowed by thee vastness of their egos.
Interestingly, a thread similar to this was started over at the PCZ forums the other day called "RIP PC Zone" or something. It was started by a PCG fanboy with no point to prove other than "I do not like your magazine." What an enriched life he must lead.

Could be....Could be ;)

But I dunno, what they wrote wasn't just funny it seemed more intelligent and like I said, they reviewed things other than games a lot more. Not that it made much difference to my life, but it was interesting to read about all this new stuff in the computer world.

Hasn't the company that produces PCZone within the last year started making an actual, full blown, lads mag?

i know it'l be an expensive way of finding out but you think i should just buy a load of pc mags and read em all? so i can then find out which i like best?

well, as far as i can remember, Dennis Publishing have PCZone and PCGamer under the same roof (literally), as well as an xbox mag, and a mag called Stuff (i think), which is indeed a lads mag.

PC Gamer is published by Future, who also publish PC Format and Edge.

Well, that certainly is an expensive way. You should have made this into a poll, that way you could buy the most popular one and if you don't like that then buy the 2nd favourite the next month.

LISTEN TO THE MAN!!! he is so true!!!

/me hugs my PGgamer subscription

(plus now they have double sided DVDs and the worlds first UBER THIN CASE!!!)

and dont get edge unless your sure you like it, its not easy to read, a lot of people (like me) think its a load of old men remembering how good the old days were (and therefore including more retro sections than reviews) and in comparison all new games are crap. trust me, all their review scores are way too low! except for nintendo games, which im not complaining about. LONG LIVE NINTENDO!

PC Gamer because its witty and funny without visably trying to be as some mags seem to..... :)

The Meaning Of Life - Monty Python

:P

DAMMIT I FORGOT!!!

i was going to buy that on DVD when i went into town today.. but i damn FORGOT!!!

/me kicks himself

is it worth buying on DVD? i love monty python, i have their other two movies, i just need that one now.

oh yes, wehn i got to the shops they were closed anyway due to me waiting for ages to get my hair cut, nevermind

I didn't think it was that great really...I mean...Its one of those "It has its moments" films really. At least, thats how I saw it, and so I wouldn't bother getting the DVD unless it cost less than a fiver maybe.

PC Gamer used to be my fav. now it's probably PC Zone, just seems to have more stuff in nowadays :)

PC Zone is such a laiden pile of crap. Half of their writers couldn't review themselfs out of a paper bag. PC Gamer all the way. Stop wasting your money on PC Zone and get back to saving money with PC Gamer.

easy! you just bribe it to let it out by giving it great scores :D

Suicide obviously has the reviewing knack. Keep trying Farrow ;)

Best UK PC Gaming mag?
I don't know about the best UK PC Gaming mag, but I sure know what the best US PC Gaming mag is...

PCGamer

Pff...Who needs to know frivalous information like reviewing yourself out of a paper bag...When you make paper bags!

Edge is a very good read for me, they seem to review scores based on what they actually think, rather than a big pile of cash sitting on their desk.

Gamesmaster and the other console specific mags that Future publishes do that so Edge don't have to do it. PC Gamer a bit guilty of accepting hype and probably fat sacks of moolah, but they're not too bad.

I buy PC Gamer every month, and Edge every 2.
