Best way to clean LCD monitors?

Hi,
i got my new monitor recently and managed to get it dirty in no-time, so I need to clean it.
Any suggestions on what's the best way to do it? I tried using a soft cloth+water but it left traces making it even worse.

A soft lint-free cloth. And a water cleaner that is very diluted. Don't use windex...
The LCD has a coating that will come off.

Maybe take some water and add a touch of isopropyl alcohol.
Or buy the "LCD cleaners" if you don't want to make your own. Not as cheap as the isopropyl alcohol+water combo.
