Best/Worst Gaming Characters

Just looking at the Fisher vs. Freeman debate that started in the General HL2 Discussion section, I was just wondering who everyone's favourite game characters were? Or the characters you think were absolutely rubbish.
Some of my favourites would be, in no particular order:
Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell), Manny Calavera (Grim Fandango), Sam & Max, G-Man, the Meccs from Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Cate Archer (NoOneLivesForever), Paul Denton (Deus Ex)

Crap ones:
John Mullins (Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2), Jack Carver (Far Cry)
 
Best Ones:
Manuel Calavera, Sam & Max, Guybrush Threepwood, Sam Fisher, Link, Ganondorf, Cate Archer, G-man (Definately), JC Denton and Paul Denton

Worst ones:
Jack Karver, Catwoman, Any Dead or Alive character, Raiden from MGS2
 
pikachu should have a guitar shoved up his arse... large end first...

I agree with the DOA character, I mean main lass Kasumi is such a Mai ripoff! how can someone not notice. :|

Ryu hyabusa is cool, though. But only in Ninja Gaiden.

Anyway:

Best: Manny, Guybrush Threepwood, Lans Tartare, Sephiroth, Cloud strife, Master chief, Link, Mai, Iori Yagami (best char EVAR!) , Kyo kusangi, LeChuck, Samus Aran, Crono, Magus ( second fav), Sam Fisher, Tommy Vercetti, G-man, Sam and max, JC Denton, Mario (from the old days...)

(Gordon needs a personality before I like him - at least he looks cooler in HL2, but time will tell - so I ain't including him).

Worst: Jack carver and that Val woman, Doyle, Tak, every Pokemon, Every stinking movie charcter in a game (Blade, catwoman, e.t.c.).
 
The best character....I'm torn between the commando out of Command and Conquer, and Barney (I didn't include Gordon because he doesn't really count)

Worst character...Dunno really. Every cheesy cronie with a bad voice actor.
 
IMO the best characters are the ones you make yourself.

HORRAY FOR SUICIDE AND EDICIUS!!!
(note: whenever i make a RPG character, if hes good i calll him Suicide, but if hes evil i call him suicide spelt backwards :) no mattter what RPG theyre in, they have a history of being feirce rivals... i might make a neverwinter nights map where they do batlle one day :) )

I was just thinking, and I actually really liked everything the characters used to say in Starcraft. Warcraft had some funny things too, but not so many I didn't think.
 
The Horned Reaper from Dungeon Keeper ruled! Otherwise known as 'Horny' or something like that. :laugh: The little imps were cool cause you could pick them up and slap em about..the big fat Bile Demons were also cool cause they would stick 2 fingers up at you if you slapped them..and they fart during battle.

Solid Snake, his character is based on kurt Russel, escape from new york

worst: anything aimed at little children
 
Solid Snake or Max Payne would have to be my favorites, but I really hate Sly Cooper and Crash Bandicoot.
 
Max Payne was almost on my worst list. His moves are great but his dreary convoluted metaphors and similies that are so appalling hammy (it didn't even seem ironic in MP2) and constant whining about how he's going mad, blah blah blah. He doesn't look constipated in MP2, which is sort of a start but then on the other hand he looks like a grisled old pornstar. Not good.
Mona was loads annoying as well - Like Max! Except not as good! <Ahem>

Forgot to mention Murray the skull from the Monkey Island series - he's fantastic.

Colour of Magic isn't it? That is...if you are reading the first book :)
 
Crazy Harij was pretty cool, but I preferred the King of the Mimes, he was absolutely hilarious.
 
Best: Solid Snake, Raiden, Dante, Nelo Angelo.

Worst: Master Chief, Blinx

Best: Mario!! and Max Payne

Worst: RAIDEN FROM MGS2. AARGH!! God I hated that charachter.
All of the charachters in Far Cry even though the game itself was good.

anyway, I think that Serious Sam guy, is annoying, his voice irritates me. sounds like a cow having an orgasm.
 
Best: Solid Snake. He's a badass, he's got a cool voice, and he wears an awesome suit

Max Payne:I laugh everytime I see his face from MP1, that smirk just makes me snicker. hahahaa, just look at this guy

Worst:
Solidus Snake. Boring villian. He should've retired and bought a mansion instead of trying to nuke NYC. Plus he's a just a wannabe of Big Boss.

Since that game is relatively un-known i feel obligated to mention the fact that i love it!

p.s. i prefer Yan, the samurai smartie.
 
Greatest: Ryu Hayabusa
Not as great as Ryu, but still kick-ass: A. Shepard, Gordon Freeman, Sam Fisher, Jack Carver, Doom III marine, Persian Prince (He has no name) Quake II marine.

Worst: Farah-stupid annoying bitch from Prince of Persia who can't take care of herself and always needed your help which lead to your plan getting screwed-I hope Shadee is more better and can actually fight in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Oh, and Strider Hiryu was pretty kick ass.
And was CrazyHarij an actual video game character?

Murray was brilliant. I also hated Max Paynes really bad smile..it looked so disturbing.
 
is a hard decision

so I will put of the games I played

Coolest: Dante(devil may cry), Riddick(cronicles of riddick:escape of butcher bay), solid snake (metal gear solid)tommy vercetty(GTA:VC), and more.....
