I'm a long time BF demo player coz im just a lazy cheap bugger, and i've decided to go for a full version. Now i dun know if I want to buy BF, or wait till March 8th for Vietnam! they both are/look like great games.

BFV all the way. Don't even waste your money. Once BFV comes out BF1942 will be a deserted wasteland. IMO wait until BFV.

I'm not so sure.
I anticipate that Battlefield: Vietnam is going to likely do as well as BF1942 did. But who knows if half the mods will be converted?
BF:V is likely going to take a little bit to hit its stride, as did BF1942. I'd recommend you get 1942 now, and pick up BF:V whenever you can. Neither will be wasted money.

That's 100 dollars of games. Seriously though, once BFV comes out everywill be like BF194who?

I doubt it, as BF:V is reportedly very helo-centric, which might not appeal to some as much as 1942's straight-up infantry/tank combat. I bet 42 will take a big hit though.

Yeah, I heard that heli's will be the workhorse, but Mods will make it all fun and balanced.

Oooohhh Helicopters? That sounds kinda neat.

Eh, I still won't get it. :|

The demo of 1942 was enough to show me it was... well, I believe you get the picture, eh?

there are alot of people that play vannila bf42 that are into the whole ww2 history thing.......

very hardcore and annoying people.....bf42 will not die so quickly....especially with DC.

Seeing as how Trauma is now working with Dice, Desert Combat may very well be coming to BF:V too. :farmer:

I doubt that, many people like to play WW2 games instead of Vietnam games.
Did they leave BF1942 when Road to Rome got released? No. Did they leave BF1942 when Secret Weapons got released? Nope. So I doubt that Battlefield 1942 will die once BF Vietnam is out.

Anyway, I'm not sure which you would get Six Three, BF Vietnam sure looks promising, but Battlefield 1942 has plenty of real good MODs out there. Gah... in my opinion you should get BF1942. :)

Hows the netcode on those battlefield games? Can a 56k hold up?

I have always been intrigued by them but never baught them in fear it would lag horribly.

Its only one game, and netcode is pretty good considering all the physics flying around (literally) :)
If you are low on bandwidth, you could always try Savage... They still claim to be able to run 40+ peep servers with 56k. Dont know if that's true since I got ADSL.

Anyhow, I doubt BF vietnam will be as successfull as BF42... People certainly wont abandon it. I dont think they can make the jungle and forrests "jungly" enough, simple as that. From the images, it looks exactly like BF: Open terrain, few tree's here and there, and that's it. I hope they will somehow pull it off though...

I know almost for sure that Vietnam will be good, and I already know BF1942 is good, So i wonder if they will release a Deluxe edition (BF1942 & Vietnam) like they did for SC4 (which I bought :)

BF:V has a redone GFX and particle engine with dx9 features includeing but not limited to dynamic shaders for things like water, explosions/napalm, thruster type particles, folliage

its imo sequel worthy and im guessing has been in dev. since bf:1942 made its debut

i wouldnt say Bf1942 will completely die out but i will definately say that BF:V will KICK ASS BABY!!! the explosions as babyheadcrab said is completely redone and looks so much more realistic....
