Since I installed BF2 last week I've been dealing with lag/frame studder and I have no clue why I get it. I'm running on a high speed connection and get a decent ping, my PC's system specs are Pentium D 920, 2 GB of RAM and a ATI x1900 GT. It happens on every server I play on and its driving me crazy, I'll either be running and it'll lock up for a second and I'll be a few steps ahead of where I stood, or I'll get spun in the complete opposite direction after the game kicks back in. My internet connection is good, my PC's specs are good enough to run it, it isnt an over heating issue so I dunno...

it's BF2 so it could any one of a thousand things :(
try the usual suspects first I guess - defragment, latest drivers, reinstall latest patch

latest patch is installed, i'll defrag but can't see it doing much help. singleplayer is fine but online is brutal. windows firewall is off but other than that i dont know if my router could be doing anything, c-s : s runs fine

BF2 was never known for it's optimization, sadly. Try reinstall/defrag/scandisk/etc.....As stated, it could be one in a thousand things.

Yeah just try turning those settings down, BF2 is not the most forgiving game when it comes to framerates/ hardware lag. You'll find there are quite a few settings you can turn down with very little visual difference noticed, but highly increased performance.

i just dont understand why it runs fine in single player but i get lag in multiplayer

He shouldnt have to turn anything down with an X1900!
In Soviet Russia, graphics details turn down YOU!
