Well, I think I'm going to do some sort of Battlefield 2 machinima... it lends itself to it too damn well not to. Obviously it won't be till a while after the game comes out, but I'm going to need a LOT of people as extras and several people with microphones to consist of the main squad... and a server to film on would be nice too :O

Anyone want to help? I'll write and direct, and edit as well most likely.

Is it going to be a "Black Hawk Down" just plain shootout or is it going to have a plot?

Oh and make it gritty, not like "OMG UNITED STATES = HERROEESS!!"

Probably just going to be like, story follows one squad, showing how people can really work together in this game, with some dramatic and heroic moves ofcourse.

I would act in it... If I had a good foriegn server to run on.

Yeah, but we should do it from an MEC or chinese perspective to break from the mold a bit

Noted! If any of you have a dedicated server you could run for the film for a couple of days that would be excellent. We'd need to set some server settings so there are no names above players, etc.

Also, anyone with a top of the line graphics card and two hard drives can film for it - run FRAPS on one of the HDs and BF2 on the other.

Count me in!!! I'm definitly buying this game.

Can't you just make a demo in real-time, and then FRAPS capture the demo?

I'd act in it and I have a mic.

I wonder if there's some coding that, with a little tweaking, could unlock the Battlefield recorder. That'd make machinma a lot easier with the demo.

yeah, well it'll wait until the release anyway :D

I'm sure you don't need to tweak server settings, just client setting when recording.

if you need me, count me in.

you can't really do anything BF2 without good ol Mr. Red :)

Yeah man, by the way, thanks for coordinating today's crazy play session. Sure, it took us 4 servers but we finally got a good one :).

What Foxtrot said, I plan on doing a machinima myself but it will be really short and will be a "replay" of one of my favourite scenes from Full Metal Jacket, the one where the camera men moves from right to left filming all the soldiers/tanks.:p

Also, remember in BFTV you don't have to worry about camera the first time around, seeing as afaik it makes a file that you can VIEW and move the camera around, play up in slowmo/ultra-fast(depending on your spec), you could just "play" a battle first, then make the actual movie using the BFTV file later.

But do also keep in mind running BFTV -will- put a large extra strain on the -entire- server, atleast that's what the readme Pi showed said.

it's funny, usually we get on a server and are good to go within a couple minutes.

it was a joint effort however from all those involved.
as always I love playing with you guys.

I've never messed around with machinima in BF, so we probably WILL use BFTV.

What kinda series are you going for? Drama? Comedy?

If you want me for an extra I'm in. :)

Don't feel like voice acting heh.

Im in as an acor. I have a x850 XT PE if you wnat me to film- i also have 2 hard drives.

drama / action, bliink. battlefield has the most realistic war scenes in a game ive played, and i want to show that cinematically.

Id absoloutly love to act, depends if I can ever get this damn game working.

I'll need a shitload of extras for it so you all can :D

want to have front lines shown well, charges and all of that, 20 or so people on each side.... sechs.

Main problem is we're going to need a 64 player server custom setup so there aren't player names, etc.

I think I'd rather be extra actually. I'm really curious about the whole process rather than acting specific stuff.

Can I be a medic extra and get a scene where I revive someone :D

there should be a lot of general war scenes, and you can be doing that along with all the fighting.

I'll definatley do it, but as an extra because I can't voice act for my life. My email's [email protected].

by the way, does anybody know what you hafta edit to shift the infantry mode to third person? Because itd be cool to have some third person infantry scenes rather than just all first person.

I'll help. I sure hope this doesn't turn out like that other project we had in mind. ;). Maybe as an actor.

I'd be happy to play stunt heli pilot or somthing, cant act for hell but Im happy to help out to add to the numbers. Just contact me by xfire (ritz00) or by a pm here.

hehehe, this is about 10,000 times less ambitious :D

Ritz, you can be a Jeep stunt driver! we'll have a scene where you drive straight into the water instead of going on a bridge ;)

By the way, I have a lot of music that is begging to be used for movie purposes.

I'd be glad to help too, I've got a mic and all ;).

Sounds like great fun. You could even make a humour one, what with the ragdolls and arty and poor chopper pilots and all that ;).

We could do a Red vs Blue type of thing....

Two teams, one map, funny stuff...
