im afraid so. its not a good game anymore. obviously bf2 is vastly superior to it.
 
can you even begin to fathom why they would keep playing a hideously broken demo? the game can be got for what, 15, 20 bucks?
 
It's more popular for the time being. HL2 might surpass BF2 when some good mods come out for it (HL2). Then again BF2 was JUST released so there's plenty of room for growth.
 
My two Canadian friends still play the demo because they're still waiting for their copies from EB that were ordered a while ago. They live in Newfoundland, which means there's not an EB inside of a three hour drive, so they're still waiting.

Try 50$ retail at a store. And the demo was not that bad and it is still early.
 
The same thing happens when a new game comes out - it shows really high on the stats for a few weeks, then things die down.
 
I only played hl2 once from start to finsh, the weapons are cack, its laggy as hell in multiplayer. Boring game.

Bf2 is so much more fun.
 
I prefered Half-Life 2 to Battlefield, but they really are different games. The BF2 single player experience really isn't that good, whereas I really enjoyed the Half-Life 2 single player. The multiplayer for HL2, which I count as CS:S, isn't as good as BF2, no, but multiplayer is all BF2 has.

HL2 is now dominating BF2 on the stats, so clear people think differently.

BF2 multiplayer is vastly as much fun as Hl2. However, BF2 is more fast paced and offers a greater entertainment value (Playtime value) and people can play it for more hours in a single run.

I find BF2 is more fun aswell. Doesn't beat a good UT2k4 match yet though.
 
Its all about the mods baby. Why do you think half life sold the most copies in its third year on the shelf..?

Eternal silence, fortress forever, dystopia, the list goes on and on, all mods so good people will buy HL2 just to play them. HL2 is going to go the same way as HL went, and I don't think there is any game that could come out that could beat it (I'd love to be proved wrong)

When I say Hl2 I mean the product made by valve nothing fan made. As a whole it's okay.

I know mods are awesome and all that, but there isn't any good MP ones out yet now are there?
 
Depends on the level of quality you demand. CTF isn't to bad. Hidden: Source is ok to.

However, I take your point, valves built in deathmatch doesn't rival BF 'anything', although I doubt it was ever meant to.
 
Gamespy stats are completely wrong and it counts bots and shows bias towards certain games. Go to www.csports.net for player statistics

As you can see:

Counter-Strike 1.6 has 87,000 players on right now
Counter-Strike Source has 27,000 players
Battlefield 2 has 15,000 players
Unreal Tournament 2004 has 1,000 players

Now go compare that to gamespy's bogus numbers and then go in and count the players yourselves :D
 
HL2 and BF2 are totally different games, BF2 is multiplayer focused while HL2 is mainly singe player.

HL2DM: mostly knocked up by a single dude at Valve - thrown in alongside SP as an afterthought.

CS: previous-gen multiplayer add-on, made by the fan community.

BF2: dedicated multiplayer game, professionally made...


It stands to reason that BF2 should be the better multiplayer experience. I guess it won't become all-conquering until more people upgrade their PCs.
 
Battlefield 2 isn't more popular than Half-Life 2 now :p
