I recently bought a few games today, and I went home to install. I put the CD in and I waited for the AutoRun. Nothing happened. I went to Run in the Start menu and I saw that my D: drive is not accessible "Incorrect function". I restarted and everything worked fine, so I took out the CD after the installation completed, and I put in another CD. The same thing happened. I came out to the verdict that after every time I open my CD drive, it can't read what's in it. Is there a remedy? Is there something I did wrong?

Go into your computer case and make sure the IDE cable is securely fastened to the optical drive and its appropriate spot in the motherboard.

That didn't work. They were in there fine. This sucks.

Did you install the drivers for it? if it had any...

I never knew there were any. It came with my computer, and it worked excellently, until now. :(

Hmm ok..

Go to device manager, and under drivers right click on your drive and see if it's working properly.

Thought you left ray ;) ohh but you come back when you need something....bastard.

jk

check to make sure ur cables are tight on the mobo....thats just stupid but u never know.

i had a similar problem, i unfortunately cured it with a reformat...idk if u want to do that but that is an option. also run virus and spyware scans.

Yes, I ran the virus scanner and Spyobt/Adaware last night. No Spyware/Adware/Viruses. I checked the mommmy board. And, I am going to reformat. I don't want to, but I have to.

have you actually tried updating the drivers yet?

I am not at home. The second I get home, I am going to try to update the drivers.

Wow, nothing worked. My last ditch attempt is a reformat. I think it is a motherboard problem. My hard-drive is failing, too. :(
