Big problem with steam and mods.

(Note: Half-life itself is pretty much uninfected, only mods are)

Ok,I try to play DoD, CS, and NS. Everytime I try to load them up, either two things happen. CS and NS wont start up(and cause a major memory leak) and DoD will start up(if I didnt already start up and exit DoD..which will cause yet another memory leak) but when I try to get to the "validating resources" part of joining a server, it lags ups and becomes non-responsive.

Anyone have that problem before, and more importantly knows the solution to it?

They all work for me, but DoD hangs up in that same place for certain maps (Charlie is one of them). It usually takes a while, though.

The best way to fix that is to copy your DOD folder from your original half-life folder into Steam rather than using what Steam downloaded.

I am just going to do a full reinstall, I upgrade my steam from beta, which then I upgraded with the counter strike installer. So I'm betting something was just messed up.
