Big problems with HL2

I played HL 2 and COunter-Strike when they came out. I havent played it in a while though and all of a sudden it is unplayable. It is so choppy and nothing i do fixes it. I even play in a window mode on low settings and still does nothing. I have downloaded the latest drivers from ATI and that does nothing. Anyone have any clue?

Run a spyware scan or something.

In all likelyhood it's not the game itself, but something that's hogging your memory.

Try validating steam files. Overheating? Try hoovering your pc and check that GPU fan is ok (moves), if there is one.

I deleted all my other games...i know its on my end,but i dont know why it wont run smooth. How do i check if its overheating? What else could be the prob?

after the delete of other games did u defrag ur HD?

i defraged before.....its smooth for a few minutes, but after that it gets really choppy....how do i validate files?
