I'm actually not digging this, I mean, they could have thought of something much more original than a Big Sister concept IMO.

"It's like a big daddy, except it's a big sister, so she is faster, and looks like a girl version"

Ohhh, cooool

I agree, seems a little uninspired, guess I'll just have see how it looks in the game, but they had better give an explanation as to why we didn't come across them in the original.

I think we'll find that it will have a good justification - both gameplay and story wise.

If you think about it, the Big Daddy was the mascot of Bioshock - so for the 2nd Bioshock they merely alter the mascot to fit the new plot.

It may not be the Rosie that they're referring to, but rathe rthe aging of the little sisters. And if time has passed, it stands to reason that the technology used for Big Daddy's has improved.

Am i the only one who didn't like Bioshock? This seems to reinforce why i didn't like it.

Thus solves the mystery of ThereIsSomethingInTheSea.com.

Wow. A monster with a "Red Eye" indeed.

I'm not too surprised by this. Though I am incredibly shocked by the look of the Little Sister on the "Big Sister"'s back. She's all...creepified again. I thought they were all cured (or all killed)? What's the deal?

There are only two explanations for why the little sisters look that way after the ending of Bioshock.

1. They were cured. But the cure was actually the Rage virus and now they're zombies.

or

2. They were all killed, but all that Adam they ate was actually the Rage virus so now they're Zombies.

Actually I kinda like this idea.

They're probably going to turn her into a boss though, and, if so, I hope they do a better job at it then the final boss battle in BioShock. He sucked.

Anyway, this does more then just proves that a Big Sister exists. It proves that Little Sisters still exist also. (Therefore, this can't be the very, very, bad ending where Jack kills them all). It also reveals that we're going back to Rapture. (Probably to save all the girls that got kidnapped).

My god, Rapture must be a total shithole by now, considering that it was falling apart in the first game.

Unless of course someone is rebuilding it...

I read that B2 is going to have elements of a prequel and a sequel. So maybe these Big Sisters were around were around before the events of B1 and were scrapped. Or maybe Writerforhire is right and they are going with the bad ending of B1.

Instead of being called "Big Mommy" as you might expect for a female version of a Big Daddy, "Big Sister" might imply some crossover between the jobs of a Big Daddy and Little Sister.

All I really know is that Bioshock 2 better live up to/surpass Bioshock 1. That and I'm a bit antsy about it being in the hands of a new team and the whole "Bioshock is now a franchise" thing.

Actually, I believe the exact opposite: I think BS2 (as you called it) will take place after the good ending. I'm even more convinced by this now after seeing the picture. If the "Big Sister" is the one who has been kidnapping girls, then its safe to say that the Little Sister on the Big Sister's back is one of the kidnapped girls. Which means that the other girls are all going to be turned into Little Sisters. Now, there's two possible explanations for this. One, this takes place after the good ending, and the Big Sister is kidnapping Little Sisters, and "awakening" them or two, this takes place after the bad ending and the Big Sister is making new Little Sisters from random girls she finds in coastal towns. I believe its the first namely due to the fact there's sixteen kidnappings and because the site strongly hints that the girls are somehow related genetically.

theres something about the design i dont like for some reason. its good to see more material though.

Think it as a commercial point of view. Showing the minor tweak of the concept they enjoyed in the last game will reel the people in. Showing them some of the other rather alien-igetic beings that they've come up with would confuse the consumer leading them to believe that Bioshock 2 would escape its roots.

I think you nailed it. And, personally, I don't mind that. So long as regular Big Daddies also make a appearance and they manage to pull off this new variantion well enough.

Is that a little sister ADAM collection syringe on her hand?

Maybe the girls are symbiotically linked as collecter and converter, might be worth looking into for this

Um, where? All I see is discussion and speculation regarding said picture. I see no solid criticisms with the game itself or reviews as such, just some thoughts on the concept and story of Bioshock 2.

He's making a preemptive strike just in case.

you know, i really hope this isnt an april fools prank.

I'm almost wishing it is. Granted, I think a Big Sister can be a interesting and a tough enemy, but it is a bit unoriginal. I would have either like them to stick with the already established world (I.E. Regular Big Daddies) or do something really unique that adds flavor to the worldcreation process.

Year away? Think this year.

Amazon.com has November 30, 2009.
Gamespot.com has Q3.
Gamespy.com has a Q3 release for 360 while a Q4 release for PC and PS3.
Gamestop.com has October 5, 2009.
IGN.com has a September 30, 2009 release for 360 while December 30, 2009 release for PC and PS3.

Although these are most likely just guesstimates it'd make sense to come out before Christmas rather than early next year.

well think of it this way: it has the power of a daddy but with added agility. thats a pretty good enemy.

What could it add really? The bouncers were already well fitted to the fast melee category, i mean those things were bad. They charged faster than you could run.

And i think the needle of the big sister is indeed an ADAM collection device that hooks to the little sister in the cage. You can see what looks like a dialysis tube running up the arm. This is far more efficient than the old method and gruesome

What happens when a big daddy and a big sister reproduce?

I'm not disagreeing that it could be a challenging enemy. I'm just saying it doesn't seem to be very original. But, who knows, there might still be a twist. After all, we're all kinda assuming that this "Big Sister" is really a variant from a Big Daddy. There's probably more to it then that, and a creative back story might make up for a unoriginal character concept.
