1984 rings a bell - Breen=Big Brother, plus the way the population are treated is very 1984ish.....Instincts being seen as almost a crime - Thought crime anyone. hehe Welcome to USA 2004


War of The Worlds also seems to come up as well. Strider = Fighting Machine, while the Slug alien is very similar to the Martian HG Well described (body size of a bear, telepathic etc). Warp Generator on strider=Heat Ray

obvious that they ripped material from 1984, which is good, because i loved the book. by the brain bug, do you mean the combine thing breen talks to?

yes i do.

i have a shitty rig, so i didn't see it well or long, but it appeared to look like one. Also heard the prima guide calls it "big sluggy" (not sure on that).

anyways seems like theres alot places inspiration came from.

deffinatly 1984, and Star Ship Troopers.

i read somewhere they did use war of the worlds as a template for the striders. Originally they were to be used in canal or a cut seacoast sceen where they would walk in in water, just sticking their body out. The some guy put on on land in a city map as something to fight against, and everybody thought it looked real cooll. So land battle tanks they became.

I wonder how long it will be until some realizes that you can make an Equilibrium mod out of this game. Story works wonders. Replace Dr. Breen with Father and Gordon with the Cleric. Of course, slight modifications here and there, but it'd be a great story to work with...well, provided the moviemakers decide to let us play with the copyright.
