So I just installed a new mobo, cpu, and ram. After getting it to start, i put vista on it.

I then started to download the crysis beta and left it downloading over night. I woke up to my Computer flashing, which usually means its hibernating or something. So i pressed power, noticed my mouse light flash, but the monitor does not turn on. The CPU fan runs fine, the p5k motherboard light is on...but no video. My mouse and keyboard lights are not on either, except my mouse light going on if I click it.

Kind of an odd problem, id assume if the motherboard had an issue it wouldn't turn on.

Any ideas?

I dont get a bios screen. I have restarted in a few times with the same results

try running on onboard video mode... i had a similar experience. had 2 replace ma video card

Turn the power supply off for 20 seconds. And turn it back on. (not the red voltage switch)
Just cycles the power. Otherwise something isn't working right. Could try unplugging connections and back in.

Ill give that a try when I get home. Would that allow the motherboard to work yet not power the video card/monitor?

Sounds like its not posting.

I have the same motherboard, when I flashed the BIOS in windows and it didn't work. It would do the same. Generally a sound would be played if their is a problem and if you look in the manual there should be page on what the sounds mean.

hmm, i followed Asus' advice and it works. Thanks ASUS!

next question....i hear clicking...need a new hard drive?

Also, i seem to be hearing the pc load somethign constantly even at idle.

Im confused primarily because i just played some crysis beta and my fps was almost worse then it was before.....i dont get it. Quad coure, 8800gtsm 4 gigs of 6400, whats the problem?

Dumb question, but have you updated your video/audio drivers?

ya, although it was the beta driver from nvidia that was released the day i installed it. yesterday actually
