Bigggg Problem

Ok i am majorly pissed off --- anyone who can help me i would rllllllly appreciate it

basically everytime i double click the half life 2 game to start the computer makes a sound as if about to start but then nothing happens and half life 2 doesnt load making it unusable. the computer does not freeze but it just doesnt react to the half life 2 and nothing happens visibly on the screen and i can just hear the noise of the dvd drive.

any one know how i can fix this problem??

Hmmm... the only time I ever encountered a problem like this was caused by the CD copy protection. I tried to play the game using a copy of the disc (a backup copy I made from my original disc), but the game didn't like it, and it gave me no feedback, just refused to run.

This may not be applicable to you at all, however, but I just thought I'd throw in my experiences.

Yeah they've used a special technology (SecureROM?) on the discs, some people's drives have problems with it and hence your symptoms.

If you have a dvdwriter try upgrading the firmware.
