Bill Oreilly should be dragged through the streets and publically flogged: here's why

On his September 14 radio show, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly publicly wished that Hurricane Katrina had flooded the United Nations building in New York. O'Reilly then added: "And I wouldn't have rescued them."

From the September 14 broadcast of Westwood One's The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:

O'REILLY: Bush to address the U.N., says we must be steadfast in battling terrorism. I'm sure all the U.N. people fell asleep. They don't really care about anything over there at all. I just wish Katrina had only hit the United Nations building, nothing else, just had flooded them out. And I wouldn't have rescued them.

O'Reilly has previously described "[m]any, many, many" hurricane victims who did not evacuate New Orleans as "drug-addicted ... thugs."

However, what does bug me is the fact every Republican in this country sees Bill O'reilly as an idol figure. Everything O'Reilly says you will hear people like Ghost, Glirk, etc... repeat in some shape or form. He is a representation of the neocons in this country; what's horrible is he gets about 2 million viewers every night.

I will also add that he is chicken shit like most of these right wing morons (yes, that label applies to you if you agree with him). He continually says Media Matters is a nazi organization, he continually spews lies about them yet he will not have David Brock on his show.

We need to be as lound about this as possible. O'Reilly already has attention, we need to take that away from him by beating in to people's heads that he is a lying prick that has no respect for facts. I was merely pointing out that: a) It was a horrendous thing to say; b) He should not be allowed to get away with it; and c) In this country the ramifications would be him being fired and forced to publicly apologise.

To be honest I think it is a travesty that he's allowed to say such audacious hate-filled words and still enjoy a handsome salary and a prestigious place on an influential broadcast. I don't think he should be allowed to get away with it, and that would be my opinion no matter what his nationality.

our mayor was in hot water awhile back when of London's mayor was here for a visit. Seems he commented that "at least london's police arent behind bars" ..referring to police officers currently under investigation for various offenses. The police, their supporters and conservative media slammed him for what was essentially the truth ..my respect for him raised a few points after that

Haha! Well, there's a whole bunch of stuff people get away with here that they probably wouldn't get away with elsewhere (OJ Simpson & Michael Jackson anyone?). The freedoms that seemed like such a good idea a couple of hundred years ago are still a very good idea, but as such, you have to deal with all sorts of crap like this and flag burning and Nazi parades, etc etc etc. Trying to make everyone happy makes many people very upset. You seem to think that "exposing his idiocy" is going to do some kind of good. You're very wrong, thats just fuel for the fire. Bill O' Reilly says outrageous stuff like that to provoke controversy. Controversy gets his name in the news media and the papers, and his ratings sky rocket. His show isn't even a news show, it's more entertainment than anything else. Sure there are plenty of inbred morons that take what he says seriously, but the majority either watch it for some kind of comic/shock value or because he pisses them off. Yes, a large portion of his audience are stupid liberals who watch it apparently for no other reason than getting themselves all pissed off.

While I can't say this for sure, the majority of the people who you see on these forums echoing his childish rants are likely children themselves. They don't matter at all, their opinion is totally null and void. Even conservatives tend to grow out of that radical and idiotic mindset.
