Capcom's Bionic Commando Remake will be available next Thursday, August 14th on Steam for $14.99 a $5 premium over the $9.99 PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases.

"$14.99 represents an appropriate price for the platform and you should probably expect our PC pricing to always be slightly higher than the console equivalent in this space," noted Capcom business development and strategic planning VP Christian Svensson.

The downloadable PlayStation 3 edition of Bionic Commando Rearmed arrives in the PlayStation Store next Thursday, the same day as the PC version's debut, while the downloadable Xbox 360 version will be available next Wednesday, August 13.

I can't wait for the XBLA version, looks amazing!

I don't understand why this is so? Does valve demand a higher royalty?

from the news post:

He just says PC pricing and not specifically pricing on Steam. Usually aren't initial retail console prices $5-10 higher than PC games on steam? Not sure why the PC version is more.

yeah, bearing in mind the retail price of DMC4 was actually LESS than the price of the console version

The PC release and pricing isnt exclusive to steam, not that $5 is gonna make much difference, also the official BCR site says the release is worldwide not NA only.

Looks kinda cool! 5 bucks extra is lame, though...strange seeing how it's digital all ways around. :(

I thought PC games had a tendency to be cheaper then their console counter-part.

@Drackard: You're sig is bothering me :(. There's no such thing as an Intel Q6600 Pro.

Why? For the love of all that is holy, won't someone please tell my WHY?!

I recall this game from arcades of my youth... didn't play it much. They don't have screenies of the giant robot that could only move like it's foot or an arm, do they? I don't suppose they changed up that game mechanic.

From Kotaku
It has nothing to do with Piracy concerns. It has to do with different business terms/expectations in that sector and more importantly, generally prevailing pricing of PC digital games versus their console counterparts.

The typical downloadable price for digital-only games on PC is actually $US 19.99.

Summary: Capcom are riding PC gamers because they can.

I had been hoping they would remake this for years. My top 3 of requested remakes. I'd buy this if it was at the store, but I cba to get steam working.

$5 extra for the PC version on top of that. Bastards.

The demo is out (in English) on the Japanese PSN store currently. Just downloaded it and it is awesome. During the communications briefing there is some very funny chat. I will be buying this tomorrow for sure.

Bleh, looks like a waste of money.

Waiting on that insane looking 3D third person shooter remake.
