Soooo... it's only $5. Is it worth it? I liked the first one despite not being a fan of the whole "fright" style genre, but I've heard mixed things. I'll probably buy it regardless, but is it worth it that cheap?

Seems like a good time for cheap games.

I've only played the first hour or two. In terms of graphics and style it seems pretty much the exact same as the original. The story is pretty meh (though I do like some touches here and there) though the story didn't really pick up in Bioshock till a while in too. The atmosphere isn't quite as good. You know the way half way through Bioshock the splicers stopped being the insane inhabitants of Rapture and just became random mooks? It's like that from near the start in the sequel.

I do think the combat is better than in the first though. Left hand plasmids right hand gun is a much better system. That said, they don't seem to want to shake things up again. The first three plasmids you get are the same as the first three you get in the first game. Little Sister protecting is less annoying than I thought it would be. It's basically just an extension of the kill Big Daddy system in the first with more splicers.

So my first impressions were: Better combat, not better everything else.

Bioshock 1 was better than 2, but I'm willing to bet Bioshock Infinite will be better than 2 hands down. I can't wait till it arrives

It's only $5 if you're interested you might aswell check it out. I personally think it gets an unfair negative reputation

I rented it, was good not great though. It just felt like a giant DLC pack to me

just bought it...I would have never paid $50 for it but for $5 and no tax it's worth it bra.

Yeah I remember the day it came out I was like "I can totally wait for this to get to $5."

Today that promise is fulfilled.

now I'm at a point where I only buy games if they're on sale.Last full priced game I bought was DS2 and only because I had GameStop store credit. I would have never spend $60 on that game.now it price dropped to $40 already by fall time it will be $20.
EA might give it to us for free as a pre-order special for BF3...that or Dragon Age2 which is also a huge waste of money....man I'm glad I didn't buy in to the hype of that Game.
steam summer sale FTW can't wait.

This. Last full priced game I bought: Dragon Age Origins. I'm still thinking about getting Portal 2 now, or waiting for the next big sale on Steam.

I bought Bioshock 1 and 2 now on the sale, own 1 already on the 360 but never got around to beating it and since I am getting a new PC I figured I might as well make use of this sale and play through the titles on PC instead.

Screw the haters. I enjoyed it. Story was still interesting to me particularly the parts involving Mark Meltzer and seeing more of Rapture was great. Weapons are a lot better than 1, combat is much more tactical. Better gameplay.

Not expecting much given that the first one was just "okay" and the Big Daddy section was by far the worst part of the game, but eh, it's $5, I'll give it a whirl.

****, it has Games for Windows Live.

My thoughts too. ****ing thing made me log in to save, and then I had to enter my CD key again for GFWL, since apparently its not enough to do it once when the game asks for it. Then it made me quit the game so it could update GFWL, then when I got back into the game it had to update AGAIN, making me quit the game and restart. **** I hate GFWL.

EDIT: F*ck it. It keeps saying theres an update, and that I can't save without getting the update, but each time I do, it doesn't work. ****ing waste of five bucks. God I hate this piece of shit software.

Yeah, I had the exact same experience. There is a work around I found though -

Still bullshit that you have to figure out that work around. Most of the time it will work without a live account, if you follow those instructions, but once or twice it didnt log into my offline account for some reason, so I'd be 20 minutes into the game, go to save, and couldn't. ****ing retarded.

Good thing I have a an X-Box Live account that triples as a Windows Live and a Games for Windows Live account.

But still, definitely shitty decision of them to use GFWL.

So do I, but thats not the problem. The problem is that the shitty software can't even properly update itself, and then prevents me from playing the game. I'll try the workaround.

It used GFWL? Oh dear, I'm sure I have it installed somewhere, I've been meaning to check it out for ages, may actually do so now thanks to this thread =]

Wow, the workaround might not even be worth it. When I started the 2nd or 3rd level the game has crashed 4 times.

So, Games for Windows insists on "updating", which it does, but doesn't seem to take, and asks every single time. I tried the Offline thing, but yeah, it keeps making the game crash.

This amount of annoyance is unacceptable, even for $5.

lmao you get what you deserve for buying a shitty game.

For some reason the crashing went away for now.

What a contribution to the thread, Barnz. It also helps me know more about you, because I did not realize you disliked the Bioshock video games. Enlightening!

sorry, I'm not into shitty, dumbed down console games.

Is it just me or is Barnz getting more grumpy by the week?

sorry, I'm not into shitty, dumbed down console games.

Oh no, you see, I know that. That was the joke. Everybody knows that. And no one really cares. There's really no reason to say it.

I think that thanks to Barnz's recommendation I'm going to give it a play later on today.

How far? I'm at... Where the hell am I.

Ryan Amusements, about to rob the first little sister of all her Adam, and I've only crashed once or twice.
